HURRAY

Kolby has finally decided that he is ready for a bottle!! He is particular about the nipple, and about the formula, but we have finally found a combination that works for him! He is eating sooo much more, and has gained 1 lb in 1 month. Considering that he was underweight for his age, 1 lb is huge!!

No if only we didn't have another obstacle thrown into our path... Cold, flu, I don't know what it is for sure, but it has hit Kolby really hard, Jacob has some symptoms, but he isn't one to let that stop him. In fact, unless Jake is severely ill, you'd really never know he had a cold or whatever; he just doesn't let it get in the way of his fun! I seem to be feeling better, except that now I feel a cough coming. Keith is slightly congested, but nothing to write home about...yet!!

Had a pretty lazy weekend. We drove out to Langdon to look around. I had never been there before, and am not sure that I'll be going back any time soon. It is not a bad place at all. Just nothing to take me back there. They have subdivisions out there that are different than regular "city" subdivisions. They have much bigger lots, way more green space, and it seemed to me that there were more parks than usual. That is very nice. They have a brand new elementary school and there are plans to build a high school/rec center. I have no idea where the kids go to high school now, maybe Chesteremere?

The weather has been just fantastic, getting warmer than average again. LOVE IT!

Must be on my way, there are runny noses, coughing fits and dirty diapers to tend to!

Have a great DAY!!!

The Weather

This post is from from my other blog here

It seems more so this year than ever before, I am affected by the changing weather. I have almost always, since living here, gotten a headache prior to a Chinook blowing in, but with the weather having turned rainy as of late, I seem to really feel a change. I like light! I love the sun, but not baking in it, I like daylight. With the cloudy, foggy, unhappy weather we have had lately, I feel cloudy, foggy and unhappy!

Hopefully once the clouds disappear, so will my cloudy mood.

Little Kolby has been keeping the mood light lately! He is into talking, and banging right now! I put him to bed last night, and he talked and played by himself for 1 hour. No crying, just keeping himself occupied until he fell asleep. He thinks everything is funny, which of course makes whomever is around him laugh! I am having some breakthroughs with his eating too! He has put in his mouth, AND SWALLOWED cereal that was mixed with formula! This is HUGE! We have a legitimate concern for his health that, with him expanding his eating horizons, will shrink as he eats, and drinks, more.

Jacob has really seemed to have grown up AGAIN in the last couple months. He uses words that aren't really a part of everyday conversation, and it always surprises us that the words are being used correctly! He really is quite a ham. Even though he may fustrate me to no end somedays, almost all other days he is funny, polite and sweet!

The dayhome has been going fantastic! The kids I have are just fantastic. Everyone gets on quite well. And I am having the fun that I knew this sort of work would bring to my life! My days are not riddled with stress, disappointment or anger anymore! I am now fully aware of how I need to run my business, and at which point I need to remove a "problem" child from my care. Which is immediately by the way! As much as I know some kids need the sort of direction and guidance that I can offer them, my job cannot be successful without parental support! Bottom line! There are PROFESSIONALS who get paid MUCH more than I do to deal with the larger issues that some children face. Sounds cold, I know, but my first priority is and always has to be my own children! I cannot, and will NOT compromise their safety, well-being or routine, just to try to "save" another child. I've learned my lesson. I will not travel down that road again without help from various other sources!

Well enough of that... I am so excited that it is SEPTEMBER! That means a few things, my birthday is soon, Christmas is coming soon and of course, IT'S THE NEW SEASON OF TV!!! I really like NCIS, The Unit, House, CSI and Las Vegas. I will watch Ghost Whisperer, but am not a huge fan, and of course SURVIVOR and THE AMAZING RACE are by far the best reality "game shows" on tv. Well that fills out my weekly TV schedule!!! I often have to record the program and then watch it the next day, I cannot stay up late enough to watch half the programs that I like!!! I guess that comes with the early mornings, long days and even longer nights that I face!

Have a wonderful week, I know I will!

Oh so much

So Kolby turned 6 months on the 28th of August! He had his vaccinations and he did really well. He was a bit cranky a few days after the needles, but did okay while getting them. He weighed in at 14 lbs 14 oz, and his length was 25.5 inches. He is just a little fella, but he is happy, and is now eating cereal and fruits and veggies like they are going out of style!
Jake also had his turn on the scales and weighed in at 36 lbs.

With having the dayhome up and running I find that I am much more tired than before, but I suspect as we all get settled in and into a nice routine, I will have my energy levels higher than before.

We stayed at home over the long weekend - totally weird!!! It was very relaxing, we did the Sunday drive thing, Keith painted some more, and we just enjoyed the fabulous weather.

Last weekend we went to Spruce Meadows to watch one show. There is so much to do down there, between all the shops, displays, stages, rings, and Super Dogs. We were there from about 10 - to around 4:30pm. Jake just loves the horses! They had a little course set-up for kids to ride a horse (one of those stick horses) and go over jumps. Jake and I raced each other and he WON!!!! Andrea did really well. It is just amazing to watch! GREAT JOB ANDREA - you were awesome!
