This post is from from my other blog here I am sure that the more babies you have, the more intense the symptoms are. With Jacob, I didn't even know if I was having Braxton Hicks contractions or not. With Kolby I felt them around 34 weeks until delivery. With this baby, I have felt them since about 25 weeks. Yesterday morning they were frequent, though not consistant, and were totally bearable. They fizzled off during the day, and then almost all night, again they started up. This time still totally bearable, but almost not bearable - does that make sense?, and frequent and consistant. If this was my first baby, I'd probably would've woken up Keith to take me to the hospital, but seeing that it isn't my first, I decided to wait it out and VOILA - NOTHING! All I got was a bad night's sleep! Just as well though, really. I would prefer to wait until the baby's due date was slightly closer. I know that they say that can estimate quite accurately what the baby's gestational age is with the 18 week ultrasound, but with having gotten preggers with this babe while still breastfeeding Kolby, I think that the longer baby is in there, the better! Within reason of course!!!! I am not all about being pregnant for more than 41 weeks, I'd just like to make sure that this little one is fully cooked! Alas, we are but 8 days away from the 40 week mark. The date gets closer and I get slightly more aware of the fact that there really is a newborn on the way. WOW |

This post is from from my other blog here This is how it works. A couple more weeks and then we hit the due date. Then about 1 week later, I am begging to be induced. Then with some humming ad hawing, they will do a NST (non-stress test), see that everything is fine, check my cervix for "readiness" and decide that if they don't induce me, I may just go "Postal". That's how I foresee things happening anyway! I didn't get induced with Jacob, but he was very well cooked when he arrived seven(depending on who you ask)days late. Kolby's birth was induced and he was 6 days late, but who knows how long he would've stayed in if we'd let him! And of course when I say "late", I mean past my Estimated Due Date. Technically you are not late until you are passed the 42nd week of pregnancy. But 42 weeks, come on! Doctor's appt went ok today. BP is 100/65, slowly rising but totally still not a concern. Heartrate was 143 BPM, yep, HR is all over the place. Oh yeah, and I'm measuring 42 weeks today! But I guess when you have a relatively short torso, the baby has no where to go but out! So today is the last day for 2 of the kids who come to my dayhome. It is sad. I've come to realize that next week is my last week of work for a little while. Having these kids that I do has been such pleasure. Some days totally suck, but the fun days FAR outweigh any bad ones that I've had. It is nioe that they are all from around the neighbourhood because Jake can keep playing with them even though they are not coming here everyday. I also know their parents, and know what sort of kids they are. It really is a great situation! Have a wonderful Easter weekend! After this weekend I'll post pics of our Egg Hunt. Kolby's first, and Jake is now competitive so it oculd be very interesting! |

This post is from from my other blog here Ginger started limping about 2 weeks ago. It got better and then it got worse. So we decided that if she didn't get better we'd take her to the vet on Friday - the 30th. Well Thursday afternoon Ginger starts not being able to use her back legs. She can hardly move herself around and it is obvious that she is in pain. K - so for sure, she goes to the vet tomorrow (Friday). It works out well as I had made plans for the dayhome to be shut down for my doctor's appointment. Keith takes Ginger to the vet for 3pm, he has to carry her up the stairs because she can't do it herself. But then, she jumps right into the back of his truck with no problems!?!?! Turns out that Keith plays hockey with the vet - sports really does bring a community together!! - anyway, he says lets take some x-rays to see what could be wrong. Get the x-rays back and nothing is broken, thank goodness. But we also find out that Ginger had been shot with a shot gun, as there are still pellets inside of her! When we got Ginger we knew, from the rescue foundation and from observing her that she had been severely mistreated, abandoned and neglected. At no time did it ever occur to us that she may have been shot, nor did the foundation tell us! It really doesn't make a difference, we love her just the same, but that is part of her history that we should have known. Ginger is okay now, she still limps on her front foot slightly - she just bruised it really badly I guess, and her hind legs seem to be working just fine. She is on anti-inflammitory's still, so we'll really know how she's doing when she is off of her medicine. Talk about heart-breaking! Wow, we have snow, and lots of it! This weather is unpredictable at best! Even Jake has started doubting the weatherman during the news!! He's like "the weatherman says it's going to snow, but it isn't is it mom/dad?" Hilarious! The great thing about snow at this time of year is that it is mild outside. It is perfect for playing! Doctor's appointment went ok. BP is 100/60, up a little bit, but still not even close to a concern. Baby's heartrate was 132 BPM. A far cry from 150ish BPM that we have been hearing! Only this baby knows if it is a boy or a girl! The doctor swore that Kolby was a girl, just because he felt it! He hasn't said much about this baby, but Jacob is convinced it is a girl. If you even mention to Jake that it might not be a girl, he gets all mad and pouty and insists that there is no way it is a boy, it is a girl and that's that!! |
