Day 3 - Wednesday

This post is from from my other blog here

We have had some interesting things happen since the boys arrived.

Sunday evening they decided to go for a walk - so I give them my cell phone and tell them to call if they get lost - they don't call and I'm up until 2:30am waiting for them to come home!

Monday evening I take them to Crossfield to watch game 4 of the South Finals for Lacrosse. They've never seen lacrosse before and are quite impressed with the speed of the game, but decide that it is too rough for their liking!!

Tuesday evening they ask to go to another homestay family's house to visit with friends from their school. So I drop them off and go to game 5 of the finals in Calgary. I get home around 11:30pm and get a call to come pick them up. So I go, and only Woo is there! Hwang decided to walk home. A very long walk from the South East side of town all the way here - the very far North West side of town. I drop Woo back off at home and go driving around looking for Hwang knowing that he has no jacket, and has relatively NO familiarity with the city. I finally see him and pick him up and get to bed - 1:3oam.

Wednesday morning I wake them up at 7:30am to be ready to go for 8am. They are off to Drumheller today - I've told them that they are not to seperate themselves from each other any more!!! Where one goes - the other goes! Tonight Keith is going to go play pool with them - Billiards as they call it. I guess the rules are different in Korea, so it will be interesting to hear about how the games go.

So the Knights won the best of 5 over the Raiders to take the South Finals AGAIN! This is the 3rd year in a row now. They will be facing the Sherwood Park Outlaws for the Provincial title - the winner of this series qualifies to go to the President's Cup. GO KNIGHTS GO!!!

The students arrived in Calgary yesterday at about 2:30pm after a 10 hour flight from Korea. The two boys, Hwang and Woo, are 18 years old and seem very nice. Woo speaks much better english that Hwang does, but neither of them speak fluently. We haven't had any serious miscommunications. They came with gifts too!! One was wrapped in paper that has original Korean symbols on it - very attractive. There were two key chains, two compact mirrors, 2 traditional Korean masks that you hang in your home for good luck, and a box of Korean tea. All very beautiful with amazing scenery and workmanship. They were off to school this morning and then bowling this afternoon!

They have activities planned every day with their schoolmates, except on weekends and most evenings, when we will do our own outings.

I'll keep you updated on our experiences.

Today was Lindsey's first set of immunizations. I just hate putting the kids through the pain of those dang needles. I had my MMR again - yowzer it hurt.

Noonie is getting neutered today.

I meet with my trainer today. They also want to meet with me about their childminding program.

Had a great weekend - didn't do much. Made it out to a Knights game Saturday night. Watched Keith play. He scored a goal too! That is only 2 games he played this year - he's been coaching instead of playing. It is great to see him out there.

Keith, Kolby, Jacob and Wayne.

My little girl! She looks stunned hehe.

The newest addition to our family... NOONIE. He is about 1 year old, he is a Jack Russell cross and was adopted from a rescue foundation. We are trying to work on a new name for him, so if you have any ideas, we love to hear them. We would like to keep the same sound and beat of his name - we are considering: Buddy. Jack was suggested too.

Jake and his friend enjoying the sunshine and waiting patiently for the parade to start.

Crazy rodeo clown rode on top of this barrell. He almost fell off when the truck accelerated!!

You know your in Alberta when the parade has more than one tractor AND there is horse poop on the road!!!

The Canada Day Flag Cake. My friend did the maple leaf - and she's the artistic one of the bunch LOL!!!

The waterslide bouncer that kept the kids entertained for HOURS during the Bbq. The grass was very well watered - so were the kids!

The fireworks that we see from our back deck. I'm still figuring the camera out - so only a few of the pics of the fireworks actually worked, but the display this year was really great!
