 Just sitting here on our patio looking at the tree, it is one hell of a tree for sure and worst of all many hours of back breaking work for Steve.

 The weather has indeed been playing havoc all over Australia...I'm pleased to hear that no-one was hurt.

I so hate the wind it is so destructive.

science needs to find away to control weather. Will probably never happen in either of our lifetimes but would be a good way to prevent these natural disasters from occuring. That or we as a popultion need to work on controlling our habits which make an impact on nature. The earth is not ours we simply live from it.

 WOW was right Nicki, it made more than the foundations and house jump that is for sure, especially when your lying in bed waiting for one to come down and hoping against hope that it doesn't fall on the house.

The property looks look a cyclone has hit it once more, our house sprung a few leaks we didn't know it had, it was just the force of the wind driving the rain through the windows, had buckets and towels everywhere.....lucky no major damage, just alot of hard work.

Yeah driving to Woodburn in that weather, oh gee whiz, I'm glad you arrived safe....yep it wasn't the rain, or roads cut off just the scary wind that does most of the damageThey were saying on the news that it was freaky  weather conditions, they weren't telling us something we didn't  already know. So many people had to be evacuated from their homes.

Woodburn Nicki so close to us about a hours drive, maybe one day in better weather conditions we could arrange a meet.???

 Yay Kathryn no wind or rain today, though it looks like it is still around.  We think this beauty fell because the ground just didn't have a chance to dry out a bit from the last two lots of rain, around 400mls both times.

Nature can certainly show us her fury when she likes, in our time here we have suffered at her hands, we mere humans are no match against mother nature.

It was a shame to loss such a grand tree but very thankful that she decided to fall the way she did.

 Yes we are gluttons for punishment aren't we???? I suppose we could just let it go like most property owners do but while we  are able to keep it looking the way we like, we will endeavour to do so.

So the minti camp will have to be revamped once again.

 Welcome to minti! We live on the North Coast of New South Wales in Australia. Thankyou we thankful we are okay also. We have only a terrible mess to clean up and not like the thousand that had to get out of they homes because of the floods.

Sounds like you are having a bad time of it also, I hope losing the shingles didn't cause to much damage inside.

I hope things get back to normal for you and that the kids can get back to enjoying playing baseball.

I live in the US, the SW corner of Missouri. We have been hit several times in the last 2 months. I guess thats what happens when you are dumb enough to live somewhere named tornado alley by meteoralogists.After the May 8th storm this area had 71,000 people out of power and half the businesses. We were lucky several had trees through homes and cars. One area in the city had trees down in every yard and most homes.

 We are lucky compared to the magnitude of devastation you have had. "Tornado Alley" not an inviting name, hope you didn't know that before you moved in.

It is the aftermath of these storms that takes the longest, the clearing, the time, effort and of course the cost.

Here in Australia after such devastation our insurance goes up, I suppose it would be the same your way? Car insurance because so many cars got damaged and house insurance because of the damage to homes, the past few years it seems to be a never ending price rise on our insurance's.

I hope you get some respite  soon.

 This tree is going to take weeks to cut up, a lot of it we will burn but most of it we will store in our wood shed for fire wood.

having no cuppa was a killer to. thankfully we live in a newish estate so no huge trees in our immeadiate area (100m) but down the street we still have all the gum trees. had our main road cut off for a while while a main tree was chopped up as it fell. so glad there was other was to my house. LOL

I hope no more trees fall in your yard cause its so pretty. I showed my hubby and he wants to move there now. LOL

 Can he move here NOW and help with the clean up hee hee! We so love where we live but can be heartbreaking when things like this happen, especially when Steve works so hard to get it looking like a park.

I agree having no cuppa is the worst for me when we have blackouts, don't miss the cooking though haha!

The wind seem to have eased up but they are still broadcasting on the TV warnings, hope not.

 Thankfully Jess, you can imagine the damage to the rest of our property, simply heartbreaking again we just had it nice and would have gotten us through to summer without doing anymore. Now we have one hell of a job in front of us once again.

This bugger was certainly one huge tree, I am still saying thanks to myself.

 That is the only pitfall of living on a property with so many tall trees, but you don't expect them to come roots and all, don't think it helped that the ground had not had a chance to dry out from the month of rain we just had.

We both feel very lucky.

This is the last one that came near the house 6ins away but it was just a baby compared to this latest one.

 We are pleased it didn't come our way also, it looks harmless on the ground but it didn't sound harmless at 3am in the morning.

 Yes Cheeky made it through the night, don't know how but glad he did. 

The cows headed for high ground, but had a two wild dogs chasing the calves, Steve went and hunted them, they were back the next day.

The property is a mess annie, so heart breaking, just don't know where to start.

Yes my friend it is the strength that eludes us at present, we will just do bit by bit like we always do....today Steve is trying to salvage the wood shed which took a bashing from the wind.
