Yeah I'm sharing my beach with "BUSTER". Nice to know that I am sharing the beach with a piece of history.
Back in the 1880"s Woolgoolga was a busy sea port for the whole of the mid north coast of New South Wales....Shipping out timber to other settlements and shipping in goods that the settlements needed up the coast.
"BUSTER" was a 130-ft, 300 ton, 3 masted sailing ship....She was built in Nova Scotia in 1884....While waiting to load timber bound for New Zealand, she broke her moorings in a storm and came to rest on our beach.
You only ever see 3 pieces of wood sticking up as the rest of her is covered by sand....With all the storms and bad weather we have had this year in May she was completely uncovered, for everyone to see. They say it has been 15 years since she was last uncovered...this has been great for locals and visitors alike to share in a piece of history...for me it has been a privilege to share my beach with "BUSTER".
There is a sad side to this ! Some mindless twits ( sorry) can not just appreciate a part of history but think they have the right to take pieces of Buster....what pleasure they get out of that is beyond me.

We have a plant that still fascinates me everytime it comes into bloom....."A Wild Hibiscus" why does it fascinate me....when the bud comes out and till it is half open, the colour is pink....then magically as the petal opens it turns white....PRESTO!

Re: Sharing My Beach with BUSTER !!!!!!
Hi actually we do have another wreck on the other side of Newcastle Harbour,
on Stockton breakbreawater lies a shipwreck call the Adolf
the wreck was there even before the breakwater was built
i visited this wreck some years ago while walking along the break water
the last time i was anywhere near it people used to fish off it but was getting badly delapitated
there probably not much left of it today
and i certainly doubt it safe to walk on but still part of stocktons history just the same
by the way howdy grannyjack and jodi_lee from guess who : )
