Hi all

WARNING...the following material contains opinions about abortion and religion (dont say I didnt warn u...) lol

Now, whatever your opinion about abortion is, I dont give a rats a**. Its everyones right to choose and it is none of my business ( nor do I care to be quite frank) BUT...when will people realise when to stop with it all? In the last few months people have repeatedly asked questions or written advice and it has always ended up the same way with people getting narky and comments being thrown back and forth. Generally, I will not usually offer any comment to this topic but today I did as I really felt that this member was trying to "push" her beliefs about abortion (by making it her mums memoirs) and also threw a bit of religion in there for good measure. Actually, if people realy want to get up my nose, then all they have to do is crap on about god. As far as I am concerned, u can worship the bloody moon, just dont ask me to, infact dont even talk about it with me.

I have seen various religion based advice articles but have chosen not to read them but to read some advice about what u are led to believe is to be about abortion only to get towards the bottom and find it is also about her mums religious beliefs...AAgghh, i wouldnt have even read it if i had know!!!

I swear, sometimes I reckon members post these types of topics just to start a fight amongst members! You know.." Gee, things on here are a bit slow lately, lets spice it up...anyone wanna debate about abortion?...or hey smokers are the worst kind of parents" Dont people realise that these types of topics are inevitably going to offend?

Im all for freedom of speech but I think that when it comes to these conversations, some of us are simply not grown up enough to debate without offending. Maybe writing about abortion should be banned??? Oh and religion too please lol...

Ok had my whinge...Im off to pray...oops sorry, I meant put dinner in the oven!! lol

hell yeh im a smoker and yes im bad lmao not at parenting just at everything else hehe se im good at that so its not all bad well i thing this is a great blog and yes we should be able to blog about this sort of stuff and if people want to read it or not then they choose to but the same should go for advice right? its not like minti tells us we should be reading all advice i know i dont get those sort of warnings or demands here i just choose to read them or i dont so its really no different if its in a blog or in advice i think i pose a great arguement here lmao jj but yes i do lol

I love it... and I agree. I have my opinions about abortion but guess what! THEY ARE MINE and not anyone elses so I will never share them unless someone specifically asks. Even then I wont say they are wrong in their opinion because an opinion is someones belief.

So here I come to join you while you pray... I mean cook dinner!

Agree wholly that many memebers do ask advice with topics that will tick people off.The issue is so does maybe 50% of ll advice.How do we know that going on about how to wsh bubs clothes or wether to toilet train a 2 year old could be someones little erk.Really this place ,Minti should be about expressing your feelings ,posting advice ,asking questions regardless.

I have been offened by comments made nevre the question itself and if members wanted a text book answer they would go to a text book or doctor or professional.We come here for a broad range of answers to our queeries ,answered by a broad spectrum of society.There may be hints or tips i never would have thought of to "dye baby sheets' Hyperthetically speaking.I have no bad words for minti only to say that you have to expectthe unexpected when dealing with a site ,based all over the world mothers from 15-70 for all we know and from backrounds well off and not.So lets just open our minds a little.

okay im awfully sorry about the religion bit in the end of my advice, i had placed what my mum had written on and not seen that bit, im very sorry about it I have edited it, my advice is for the pro life veiw and im only sayin this comment to explain myself..

Nah, no need to be sorry. I understand that u r prolife and good on you for believing so. I think that all advice written on minti should be just that..advice, offering both sides to the spectrum and to do that, sometimes we have to put our own beliefs aside even if just for a moment, to give the two sides. I have absolutely no issues with other peoples own beliefs as others should have no probs with my lack of. I still say Minti should ban such topics to prevent exactly this type of backlash. Abortion topics will ALWAYS hurt someone so its something I think we should all say ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

I have to agree with you. However, the blog did have a warning to say what it was about and that people would find it upsetting. I do feel that we need to know the truth about things. I also think that it was too accessible for people's children (as one member pointed out) when the kids get on. The advice should have been written as a blog also rather than advice, perhaps the member didn't know? I feel that we should be able to write what we like in our blog (within reason of course) but leave the advice as advice, to help people become better parents rather than be a place for a debate. In a blog people should respect that it's that person's home page, that person's thoughts and feelings, and be aware of where they are. In advice, yes I think people need to be mindful that what they write should be written to help people in their parenting skills. I love all the articles on drugs, and the ones on sex education with our kids, as I believe these are some areas we struggle with. Abortion is a personal thing and I don't think that Advice is the right place for it.

Don't even get me started on what advice should be... Like there is so much that isn't at the moment! Grrrrr.

I have seen that video - I wasn't really considering not having Jay, however that pretty much confirmed it! I wouldn't show it to anyone - it is pretty graphic, and I really think the warnings should have been much stronger.

It is a shame, however it is done now.

I read and agreed with your comments on the article. I am hesitant to suggest banning topics entirely but would love to see a ban on abortion articles. Let people blog about it - with appropriate warnings in the title so we can choose to ignore it.

Can I cheat and just say ditto... As I posted in my comment on said 'advice' (I use the term loosely in this case). I was very concerned about the motivation behind the posting of it, and I tried to get that across without offending anyone. Unfortunately - that seems pretty hard to do. I sort of wish I hadn't written anything, however I stand by what I did say, and it was a very edited version of what I thought
