WOW the things we do as parents...

Well you really learn to appreciate your parents when you have to go to a school concert....

My step daughter is in grade five and it was her end of year concert today.  Which of course she only told us about the day before.   And because she is always so good with timing we are usually running around trying to figure out how the hell we are going to get there.... Her father had no way of making it, her mother does not always show up to these things.   And as luck would have it where I worked today there was enough children for me to be able to leave and go see the concert....

Now don't get me wrong it is very important to go and see these things, but had I have known what my parents had to go though when my sister and I were kids, I would have told them not to worry... :)  I am still very happy that I went because the look on her face when she saw Francis and I there ready and waiting for her to do her thing was priceless. She was soooo happy.   As I told her I did not know if I could make it so it was a surprise for her to see us there.

The hubby went to a thing not long ago at her school where all the kids from every grade (and it is not a small school) do some form of reading. The classes wrote stories and then read them to the crowd.  He said it was very hard as you know not a lot of kids that age read really fast and when they are just learning well it is hard to listen to all of the kids in the school say their bit.    But he did it.    I of course did not go because I was with Francis. I don't think he could have waited that long. :)

At least today there was music and some singing for Francis to bop along to and enjoy.  It was painful to say the least but we made one little girl very happy that part of her family was able to make it.   So in saying that although I don't think my parents pop in here I'd still like to say a big thank you to my folks for the hours of school concerts they had to sit through for us... I mean really it is hard to sit through three hours of off key singing, and out of beat dancing (as amusing as it can be) to see your own children for three minutes... :)

All in all I am still very happy that I went, it is great to see the kids put in the effort, also the lady in charge man did she work hard today.   But she looked like she was having a lot of fun with the kids....    And my step daughter was so happy to show off her little brother as well....  So she is happy I am happy... Now we just need to work on her timing and try telling us at least a week in advance that she has these concerts instead of a day..... :)

Hi Jess, didnt the school give you or her mum the invitation for such big thing. Normally for occasion like that the school normally make a formal invitation (or even just a piece of paper) to parent....to make sure that parents won't miss special moment.
