You would think at my ripe old age that by now I would have learnt to do my christmas shopping well in advance ....... not so. I did the old dash to the shops to pick up some laybys and brave the christmas crowds. All I can say is thank god for my darling husband who took the kids for a couple of hours for some me time. But it's the same thing every year, a week away from christmas and all hell breaks loose at the local shopping centre.
The frazzled mums, the screaming kidlets and the rather harrassed looking dads and shop assistants. We do it to ourselves all the time, and every year it's the same I always come home and tell my hubby that I'm going to start my shopping in June!!! Well today was a perfect example as to why you should start early.
I picked up the ole layby (forgetting how much there was) without taking a trolley with me ... so I had to do the mad dash back to the front of the store grab a trolley and obstacle course speed it back to the layby counter where upon my return the counter was 10 deep. So through the crowd the shop assistant passes my parcels to some lovely ladies who passed them back to me. It wasn't until I got home that I realised a parcel was missing. (The count to 10 process works really well). After a few profanaties to no one in particular I suddenly realised that in all the curfuffle I had thought to myself that something was missing but as you do when there are so many people waiting for their turn you don't say anything and then kick yourself when you get home and think you should have. So tomorrow it's back to the store to brave the Sunday crowds.
Anyway the moral of my little blog today is two things don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today and always follow your instict, generally you are right and if for some reason if your not you only have to say sorry.
