We can't condition the future for our children but we can condition our children for the future

I believe that reading and introducing a love of books is one of the most important gifts we can give our children. I have read to my children even during pregnancy. Children most be good readers to do maths, science, art and even sports assignments, so no matter how stronge their other abilities, the literacy skills that develop from birth need all the help we can give them. As their first and most important teaches I believe we as parents have the most critical role as children spend most of their time with us. Research shows that what happens at home not at school is the factor that most determines future success.

Reading to our children is a beautiful bonding experience I love that special time and I know with every book they are learning something new about life. Just remember when children are having fun they learn more.

I have taught all my children all to spell their names in the same way and that is with the beat to the bingo song        J   a    K   e    and Jake is his name O because this song is repectative and fun my three does it perfect and my two year old is nearly there.

The best thing next to good manners is good memories and reading is a beautiful rewarding way.

Well written
I totally agree with you.   My kids have all been taught from a young age how to spell their names and reading is very important.  Well done!

Well written  Jodette, I agree almost entirely, however as my son is somewhat older than your children, perhaps i have learnt a little about balance from him .
