Hi all! My name is Jo and I happily stumbled into this web site. I have a great husband and a 14month old daughter Ellie. I am a stay-at-home mum and love it though some days get a little long. I am looking forward to chatting with other mums and getting some tried and true advice (the best kind!) |

Well, since last blog we have been regularly attending playgroup and kindergym each twice a week. It has been great to get out and have bubs socialize a little and it has been great for me too! I really look forward to chatting with other mums (and a few dads), and its great to play with bubs in a safe environment! Really feel like this is a new day. Was feeling so lonely and finding things getting pretty tough, but now have a new circle of friends and have different stimulation for bubs.
My little girl took her first steps yesterday and it was so exciting!! She really is growing up....
My husband and I will be trying for another baby in a month or two which is really exciting. Have had all appropriate check-ups etc, just want to lose a little more weight and we'll be ready. Conceived our little girl after only four weeks of trying so hoping for that same magic again! |

We started a new playgroup yesterday and it was great!!! We are going to go twice a week and see how things go. We also went to Kindergym and had a blast!! I had heard of Kindergym before but really didn't know much about it. I was very impressed and bubs had a grand time. We have committed to going every Tuesday and are welcome to also attend any other sessions through the week. I even made another mummy friend. It was her first time too!! We had a great chat whilst playing with the kids, who are only one month apart in age, and exchanged numbers also. She only lives in the next suburb and would probably not have met her if it weren't for venturing out and trying something new. So pleased with this week so far. Even went out and bought a white board this afternoon and wrote up a schedule so we have planned activities on three days and options on the rest!! Very exciting for someone who was pulling her hair out looking for something to do only last week. Hopefully will be able to make some friends locally too! Wish me luck! Things are looking up!! |

I do love being a stay at home mum. I think being a mum is the most important job I could ever, ever do. I do find that it is hard to fill our days with meaningful and stimulating activities. All my close friends have full time employment and are single or childless. My husband works many, many hours building our own business so I am alone with my little girl 6-6.5 days of the week and almost every evening (though she is in bed early of course). We do go out every morning on an outing, visiting occasionally or going to the library, shops or on long walks, and read, play and sing lots at home, but it's still very lonely. I find too that it does get repetitive no matter how many different places we find to go and how many different types of books we find to read. It feel stuck for ideas and also feel that no matter where we go or what we do I'm still basically alone which is tough. It is amazing how alone you can feel in a crowded shopping centre or library. Do other mothers feel this too? Do most people have a circle of friends around them for company and support? We have signed up for more activities such as kindergym and playgroup so maybe this will help. We have been in a local playgroup but all the other children are older than my 14 month old and the mothers are all older than me (I'm 29) and we don't seem to have anything in common. Hopefully things will improve a bit when these new groups/activities commence. |
