So thankful

by julielfComment Published at 23:4223:424 comments4 comments24 Visits24 VisitsReport
Well it's Wednesday again so am once again a bit sore from playing netball but I have just finished reading all the blogs from my watchlist and have once again been reminded of how blessed we are.

I have 4 beautiful, talented and mostly well behaved children and a loving husband and we are all reasonably healthy.  We have our problems - sure - as everyone does- and we may not have alot of possesions compared to some but we have lots compared to others.  But really who wants to be compared to anyone!  Life isn't about comparing what we have to what others have.  The question really is "What do I do with what I have been given and how do I react to situations I am put in?".

There are so many inspirational people here on Minti who have so much wisdom and strength and I love reading their blogs and getting to know them better. I believe that on Minti we need to hear the good, the bad etc etc and be as inspirational to others as people like Marglr and Janice have been to us.  What an awesome place this is.

Have a totally awesome day/night.

So cute

I had to go out last night to church and so I left the kids home with KJ because they have trouble sitting still in church and I get to listen more if they are not there.  My little ED (3) said "Mummy can I please come with you?"  I said no and then asked him why he thought he wasn't allowed to go.  He said, with a very sad face  "Because you don't love me".  Well that melted my heart - it didn't work though he still stayed home - but it was very cute.

The things they say to try to guilt you into doing stuff they want you to do!!

Well I upset my 8yo boy today.  He was wearing jeans that had huge holes in them at the knees so I cut the bottoms of so that they were shorts.  He cried for hours!! The things that upset them????  He is ok now.

Oh well, the kids have a pupil free day today and we have lots of work to do!!

A friend of mine just joined minti.  Her Minti name is tarsha4.  She hasn't quite figured out the whole computer thing yet so it would be really good if you could become her friends too.  Thanks.  Hope you are having an awesome weekend.  (Izzy you are amazing -  requesting friendships within a couple of minutes!!)

Ouch Ouch Ouch

I am sitting at my computer in agony.  Oh don't worry though it is totally self inflicted - well sort of!  I have played 3 games of netball and umpired one game in the last 24 hours.  Which actually is quite normal for me except that we have had a couple of weeks off.  Also they were all really hard games.  It seems like every single muscle in my body is aching - I know that it isn't every muscle but that's what it feels like.  I should feel a bit better in a couple of days!

Kids are so cute - ED (3yo) was angry with me tonight because I sent him to bed (mind you I got home at 9:30pm and he was still awake - Daddy forgot to put them to bed!) and while he was stomping down the hallway to bed he said "You are not my Mum any more".    It was cute and I just laughed but we'll see tomorrow if he wants me to be his mummy again!!

Teenagers however are not so cute.  She is trying my patience at the moment and I consider myself a very patient person.  She is 13 and I know it's just the start but I just hope this doesn't go on for too much longer!  Sometimes she is really lovely so I guess it evens itself out?

KM is lovely though.  She has gone from being my very trying child to being lovely and doing just about everything that I ask her to do. Lucky I have one of those!!  lol

DJ has been pretty good too so things are looking up.

I think I need a nice hot shower now to soothe my aching muscles.

To make you smile

Not much time tonight but a couple of quick things.

The other night I came home to find my kids trying to get rid of a huge grasshopper out of the kitchen. That was funny to watch in itself.  My 14yo daughter screamed and then my 3yo son came out to "save" his sister.  Not really sure what he was going to do but it was funny!  He was then telling his Dad the story of the "Big Grass Popper"!  Cute.  (By the way - Mummy eventually got the grasshopper out of the house!!  Yay me!!)

Last night I went to my room to get 5 minutes of quiet time so I asked the boys if they could go out and watch tv for a little while with their sisters.  They didn't want to go out but they went eventually.  As my 3yo was going out and closing the door he said "Mummy you have wrecked my heart"  What a mean mummy for breaking his little heart!  How did that make me feel.  Well I felt a bit bad but it was just way to cute - I had to cuddle him - then send him outside!!  lol

Shopping and gardening

by julielfComment Published at 00:4900:491 comments1 comments23 Visits23 VisitsReport
ED and I went shopping this morning and bought some herbs and some strawberries to plant in some pots.  Then we came home and KM, DJ, ED & I planted them.  The kids loved it.  Hopefully they grow, we have never done it before.

Scott is going away this weekend so we should have an interesting time.  I'll let you know if I still have hair on Monday!  lol

Have an awesome weekend!

Good day

by julielfComment Published at 06:3406:342 comments2 comments9 Visits9 VisitsReport
Didn't really do much but it was good.  Just the usual - take the kids to school - spend the day with ED and then pick up the kids etc etc etc.

Some excellent news though - for those of you who know how challenging my 8 yo son DJ is - KM spoke to his teacher today who told her to tell me that he has been so well behaved and is trying his best in class.  She even said that he has been one of the best in class this week.  Miracles do happen.  As soon as she told me I told him how proud I was of him and we phoned his Dad (at work) and told him too.  We made a really big deal of it.  Hopefully the more we praise him the better he will be.

I asked DJ why he has been so good this week and he said "I think I am just growing up".  How sweet was that!

My sister phoned tonight and ED (3) answered.  I could hear her asking to speak to mummy and he just kept telling her his stories of the day.  It was very cute and funny.

Here is a photo of my beautiful KM - just because I felt like downloaded a photo for a change.  She is lovely.

A shock

by julielfComment Published at 20:0620:067 comments7 comments42 Visits42 VisitsReport

KJ (14 yo) came home from school yesterday and told me that her friends mum, who was only about 42, had a heart attack and died over the holidays.  It was such a shock.  I used to talk to her sometimes when I picked up KJ from school.  She had teenage kids, who now are just left with their step Dad.  I think they may still have a dad who they never see.

It really makes you think about your life.   I mean she is only a couple of years older than me and I am far more overweight than what she was!  I guess when it's your time, it's your time!

I pray that her kids are coping as well as they can.  KJ hasn't seen her friend yet but she will be there for her if she needs her.

Back to school

by julielfComment Published at 17:3217:325 comments5 comments12 Visits12 VisitsReport

Kids are back at school today. ED didn't cry today going to kindy , which is fantastic because he cries all the time and he moved up to the next class, so I was very pleased.  I did have to stay a little while but not too long.

The most amazing thing was that we were on time for a change! lol

End of school holidays

by julielfComment Published at 01:3201:321 comments1 comments6 Visits6 VisitsReport

Well the kids go back to school on Monday and we have all survived! lol   Actually we have had a good time.  We haven't done much but it was still good.  I slept in most days - well not slept in but got out of bed late anyway.  We went swimming, visited friends and the kids had turns sleeping at friends and families places.

ED finally moved up to the next class at Kindy - not that he likes it yet.  He likes being the biggest in the class I think.  Oh well he will get used to it.

Back to the school routine on Monday so no more sleeping in until mid December.  Oh well it's not that far away really!

Hope those of you who are still on school holidays are having fun!
