Hi All,
I know that first line makes no sense but it was just Amy blogging (11 month old daughter).
I have had a very intresting end of last week. Josh goes to childcare 2 days a week and anyone that has a child in childcare would know all the form you have to fill out when they enrole, well josh can't have green food colouring and it is written on his forms about 10 times that he can't have it. On Thursday to celebrate the grand final of AFL footy for afternoon tea they had a cake that was covered in green icing, so they let Josh have 3 slices. Needless to say when i picked him up and found out i wasn't very happy. The staff in his room didn't know he couldn't have it. I asked why they didn't know and i was told by the director that because they don't usually have green food colouring in the centre it wasn't written on a allergy sheet in his room. So being the understanding person that i am, i asked that no one get into trouble for this as i have never had a problem with the centre staff before. So i took him home and that is when the fun started. When Josh has green food colouring he goes completely nuts. Think about a really hypo child and times it by 10 and that is Josh. I let him go outside to try and run some energy out, 2 hours later he had to come inside because it was getting dark and i had to get dinner started so the running around turned into a full blown tantrum, this tantrum lasted 2 1/2 hours. Nothing would settle him down. I knew i couldn't get angry with him but i did find myself laughing when he asked if he could just have chocolate and ice cream for dinner and then crying like the world had come to an end when i said no. It was like i let him have that for dinner everynight and i was just being a bitch by saying no to him.
Finally at about 8:30 his daddy came home from cricket training after going straight from work and not actually knowing what had happened at childcare. The poor thing came into a house that looked like a tornado had gone through the place, Josh screaming because he was still asking for chocolate and ice cream for dinner and Amy screaming because she usually goes to bed a 7pm but she couldn't sleep because Josh was screaming and a mummy that greeted daddy with a "i need a drink"
Finally at 9:30 Josh hit the wall and fell asleep. We didn't hear a peep out of him which is very strange because he usually gets up a few times a night. On friday was another story, Josh gets up with me not knowing what to expect but he was very calm and he told me that he had a sore tummy in his head which i took to be a headache. So dosed him up on panadol and we had a very quite day.
Today i took him back into childcare and let them know what had happened. They couldn't say sorry enough, they informed me that they have changed their policy and now it is written on the allergy sheet and they will contact me if they have anything that they don't usually have just to check that Josh can have it. The director is even researching it so she understands it more as she has never come across a child with this allergy.
So hopefully this never happens again, poor Josh and his silly allergy that i can only say he got it from his mum. I also can't have green food colouring and now i know what i put my poor mum through. I didn't actually find out i was allergic to it until i was about 17 years old and at the time we found it funny what it could do to me. I tell people it feels like you are really drunk and you even get the hangover the next day in the form of a lovely migraine.
Anyway better finish here and give Amy some lunch after her little bit of blogging she must be hungry now.
