Poor Karianna has no gifts, brighten up their day with a present.
I live in Northern California with a history-buff government-employed Husband, an energetic intelligent Kindergartener, and a crazy two year old who thinks he is older than his brother (and soon will be taller than his brother.)
I blog over at ClubMom at The Karianna Spectrum and then for non-autistic-spectrum-disorder-stuff I hang out at Kari's Couch.
Both my boys have plenty of energy, and thus keep me on my toes. I am stay-at-home, but work-part-time-from-home. I have a messy but loving husband. I belong to two book clubs, am on the Board of Trustees for my high school alma mater, and do admissions interviews students for both the high school and my college. I am on the Board of Governors for the Greek organization in which I met my husband. I keep saying "yes" when I should say "no," so frequently complain of being overwhelmed.
I love to play around with photography. I dig writing non-concise things. And I wish I could be more crafty. I play ice-hockey from time-to-time. I used to be a dancer and performed at the 1988 World Expo in Brisbane, Australia. I have a neuroscience degree that I don't really use. I wish I were taller. I love sushi and anything spicy.
And I am glad to be here, making the acquaintance of other parents. |

This post is from from my other blog here I ran a 5K trail run this morning. I felt as though I was running faster than usual, but the clock said otherwise. Meanwhile, my sportband said I had gone a much further distance, but I know it is lying. Still, I like what my sportband says I did. I will be interested to see what my "official" time is once that is posted, and yet I know it really doesn't matter. Much.
What is terrific is that the family had fun. The kids did the "Little Turkeys" race and came away with medals. I got a medal...

This post is from from my other blog here I woke up way too early today.
But thankfully, that meant I had time to quickly mention a free coffee promotion over on A Spectrum of Reviews that otherwise would have gone to waste, since I would have awakened pretty late in the day for all those east-coast people who could have actually benefited from it. (Even so, it is late in the morning for them, especially as I've spent 90 minutes twiddling around.)
Today is going to be tough. The day before Thanksgiving often is, unfortunately. Every...

This post is from from my other blog here I was really excited when I was finally old enough to donate blood.
Unfortunately, my body wasn't so cooperative. I went into shock. I tried again the following year. And again. But it just wasn't working out.
Thankfully, Husband doesn't have the same reaction I do, so he ends up donating whenever he can.
But I've found other ways to be useful. And 'tis the season to be generous.
I triggered a fraud alert on my credit card yesterday, and it was a donation that did so. And then today I was...

This post is from from my other blog here This is a beautiful wall at the Catholic church where I attended a wedding on my birthday. I love candles.
During the ceremony I wished I could have taken communion to celebrate the couple, just as I wish I could have taken communion in honor of a friend during his funeral. But, I know the "rules" now. I used to think that as long as I was confirmed (which I was in the Protestant church) I could take communion. (Anyone can take communion in the Protestant church, but I at least knew there...
