Foto Friday a day early - girls playing

Comment Published at 14:0114:0112 comments12 comments57 Visits57 VisitsReport

We are off to my inlaws for the weekend, so I thought I would post my photos tonight!

This is Soph in the garden playing with Emma's electronic alphabet book - it makes great noises so she loves it even though it keeps telling her to "try again!" in a very American voice.

Emma loves eating cucumbers, and as this needed using up, I let her eat it instead of an apple after school last week!

Here she is still eating the cucumber but posing for a pic to be sent to grandparents showing her plastered grazed knee from school. Two plasters - a record!

I think Soph was watching "In the Night Garden" which she adores & I loathe! As she's smiling it must either have been Upsy Daisy, Igglepiggle or Makka Pakka on screen!!! I'm starting to tie her hair back to stop myself grabbing the scissors (hate long fringes but hairdressing SIL will kill me!) and partly to get her used to hair bands in her hair. Some days she pulls them straight out, others they stay in most of the day. With Em I bribed her with sweets for the first week I put hairbands in , but she was 25 months, which is much easier to bribe than 19 months!

Soph is fairly tolerant still of being picked up by Emma, as long as she's not tired or in the middle of being naughty!

Em was behind the sofa using the torch to look for something lost. Now the torch is lost too!

I asked Emma to smile...!

What great photos thanks for sharing,

I feel your pain.......  In the night garden...  I can't stand it but my boy is mesmerised by it.  We have it on at the moment.  ARGHHH!!!   I guess it is a little like the Telly Tubbies!

aah, a fellow sufferer! They really do get mesmerised, dont they? It's so soporific - but I guess they designed it to lull the kids off to sleep, so it's likely to lull all of us off to sleep, isnt it? Em used to say "look mummy!" & I'd look at the tv "oh, Iggle Piggle is walking through the garden". A minute would pass then "LOOK mummy!" & I would assume something exciting was happening at last but no, Iggle Piggle looked like he was still walking through the same bit of garden. 5 minutes later, and she would still think Iggle Piggle walking in the garden was exciting enough to summon me over! Aaargh! She's learned now that mummy really doesnt want to look!

Beautiful photos! Gee the kids programmes have changed since mine were little. Don't know if I have heard any of these ones. They are getting stranger and stranger! Poor Em, 2 plasters! That is the thing with girls and there knees. The jeans or pants could help there. I have a scar on my knee from school days. Have a great weekend!

Re: Foto Friday a day early - girls playing

In the Night Garden is very strange, but perfectly pitched at the kids! My favourite kids progs are also aimed at the adults though, and I just cannot manage to watch ITNG without wanting to scream! In spite of that, I must be paying some attention as I can now (after 1 year) name almost all the characters!

There is hardly a day goes by without Em falling over in the playground - she could certainly do with something covering her knees! However, at the rate she is growing, none of the skirts/dresses are that long by the time I put her in them! And although she is a trousers girl at home (like me), at school she wants to be in dresses like the rest of the girls.

Weekend was great, thanks!

What lovely girls you have and it's the first time I've ever seen anyone eating a cucumber just like that .I am the only one in the family who like cucumber at  all   Certainly Thomas and Daniel won't eat them

Both my girls love cucumber. Sophie is happiest if the skin is cut off though! I'm hoping to grow some this year - cut down on our food bill a bit! Last year there was a very late frost in May and I lost all the plants. This year at least May wasnt cold, even though it's been a bit wet!

It's aimed at 1 - 2 year olds, and is designed to make them sleepy I think. Nothing much happens. It makes the Tellytubbies (same makers) look grown up and exciting IMO! In case you want to fry your brain, see here: www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/inthenightgarden/

I'm with you on "In the Night Garden" - I can't stand it but the kids LOVE it!  Bella is always saying "where's pickle" and they are glued to it in the mornings - which is frustrating as it is on 9.00 - just when we should be going to school. I don't get it!

Ragdoll (the makers) have, as usual, done their research well - I know kids of 8 who love it, and ALL babies, but NO parents! At least it's on at naptime here - 10.30 and 1.30 I think. When it was first on we had to stay up to 6.45pm just to see it!
