Emma in her new clothes

Comment Published at 14:3914:398 comments8 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport

I got Emma a new top off ebay. I knew as soon as I saw it that it was Emma. Firstly it had stripes, secondly it was big and thirdly it was long! I know all kids are hard to dress, but my 5 year old fits 9 year old clothes, has extra long legs and a long body so that clothes rarely meet up in the middle. So a dress-top was ideal! I got the leggings off Sainsburys a few months back. Once again, I knew I was onto a winner with stripes. Being TU it's on the small side, but it is 9-10, so fairly safe. She dressed herself on Saturday morning and chose to combine these two. I think I'd have no problem finding this needle if it got lost in a haystack, eh? Talking of haystacks, she needs to brush it more, and we're booked in for a much-needed cut on Friday after school!

Been to a two-year old friend of Sophie's birthday party today. Both girls had a great time, inspite of the showery weather that had us running in & out of the house. Typical British summer!

Gotta go, Soph awake.

Emma looks great in her new outfit it's better that she is tall I'm just 4ft 10ins and it's very difficult shopping dresses are always down to my ankles when I didn't intend it to be a long dress.

I just about know what you mean. Im 5'4" but I have a long body so trousers are a nightmare. I always said, if you cant be tall yourself, you can at least marry tall and have tall kids! I expect to be bellowing "SIT DOWN EMMA!" to tell her off in a very few years - MIL and I both left primary school tall - its just that I stopped growing shortly after and she carried on for another 6+"!

Love the outfit!  Had to laugh as we are so opposite - R is still in sz3 pants and I'm just taking his sz 3 t-shirts out and replacing them with 4s and he is 5 too!  IN fact he and his sister are only 1-2 sizes apart - even in shoes - even though they are 3 years apart!  Anyway she looks great and I love the "genius" hair as DH calls it...

Re: Emma in her new clothes

R sounds about the size of Emma's best friend (the one she has told everyone she is going to marry - including God, as she recently told me LOL!). He's 5 next month, and they're such a funny combination! One of my friends has daughters who are 6 & 4 and they are the same size in clothes except for trousers. Her DD1 doesnt eat much and DD2 is the opposite. They just have one set of clothes I think! Sophie by contrast is smaller than Em at the same age, so I fear she will always be the "little" sister. Still, as long as she ends up taller than me, and preferably without needing to watch the calories, who cares if she's smaller?

Thanks Rue! Well, if you approve...! If she doesnt grow too fast, it should last a few years. And if she can stay away from mud and food stains, haha! Bold and bright has always suited her personality, and at least now the patterns and colours match - you should have seen some of the mismatches she used to insist on going to Preschool in at 3! Even mismatching wellies one day! I figured there were more important battles to win...
