I promise I'm about to turn in for the night! I have two sleep deprived little girls and a DH working away, and Im dead on my feet! Soph has a phlegmy cough, which is disturbing her sleep. Two nights ago she was awake for 2 hours in the wee small house. In the end I had to dump her in her cot to cry and play as I couldnt cope. Im as sore as anything! After she had cried a bit I resorted to picking her up and cuddling her to sleep while sitting up in bed. 2 hours later I woke up and laid her down beside me. Last night I picked her up around midnight for that cuddle. 1.5 hours later I laid her down, and as I adjusted the duvet to lay down she coughed and was sick over my bed. Yuk! DH was in the spare room with Soph's change of clothes and grobags. Even though I was carrying Soph and she was crying a bit, he didnt stir so I took pity and let him sleep, putting Soph in the cot. It's horrible being jerked from deep sleep to deal with puke! Me & Soph slept on the dry side of the bed on a towel as it was the quickest fix!
Emma is coming t the end of her first term at school and is understandably exhausted. But then she had two late nights this weekend, so we have had loads of tantrums out of her. I knew I should have said no to going to the "panto" at church, and did right up to Friday night, but then DH (who was working as sound engineer for the production) texted to say how great it was and would I bring the family on the second night, and I caved in and said "you can take Em, me and Soph will stay home". It didnt finish til 830pm and my girls are falling asleep by then, and on meltdown from 6pm behaviourwise. Well, she was very well behaved on the Saturday, but Sunday and Monday were hellish! Sunday we went up to Sheffield to see a street in our friends village which lights up for charity (raising about £10K every year). I thought both girls would sleep on the return journey, but only Soph did, so Em was up til 9 again, and was a little madam at my friends house towards the end. Just as well they are GOOD friends and have a pre-teen themselves!
DH is working away in Hertfordshire for a few nights - hopefully he'll be back Thursday night (or earlier?!). Then he's off from Friday lunchtime until 2nd January. I wont want him to go back!!!
Cards are mostly sent now, presents are nearly all wrapped. The food is all bought, ready to be transported to mum's house, where I've cooked Christmas dinner every year since Em was 1 (mum is too confused now - I used to make her my "vegetable chef" but she wasnt up to that even last year, so I got her to smile at the baby, but she kept forgetting she was supposed to be doing that). The on 27th we're off to the Inlaws for a livelier Christmas. Oh, and I get to eat at my brother's house on Boxing Day - my sister-in-law is a great host - good company, good food, and Em loves playing with her cousin. |
