Play Centres

Comment Published at 11:4911:495 comments5 comments10 Visits10 VisitsReport

I've decided I'm quite a clingy mum. I took Danny to a big play centre today. We haven't been for a long time and last time Danny would not go on any of the climbing toys alone. It made for a tiring time. Today he was initially calling for me to join him, which I did, but then he was happy for me to go and catch my breath and have a drink. I couldn't relax though. I saw other mums chatting and reading and no child was near them. They were not like me anxiously peering towards the play frame to see some sign of their child/children.

After a few moments I couldn't bear it any longer. I had to go and try to find him to check he was ok. He was fine of course! This is how I spent most of the 2 hours at the centre. Some mums seem able to use it as a rest. Not me. Have I lost the ability to relax?

Thank you. I just think I'm paranoid. We don't go that often so I guess I don't get the practice. x

It's hard to do it at first, so don't be hard on yourself. And as your child gets a bit older, he will actually not want you to be there so you have to enjoy the now, too. lol

Re: Play Centres

and also, I would rather be in place areas with moms like you rather than those who chat on the phone and chat with each other and not pay attention to their kids. In the meantime, their kids are beating other kids up! (well, maybe not beating kids.. but you get the point.)

With my 3 year old, I am somewhere in the middle. I want to always be able to see him at all times, even if he is far away from me.
