PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

Comment Published at 06:4606:4613 comments13 comments57 Visits57 VisitsReport

Hi guys,

Well I am going to have a big sulk . .  Why??? Because I can and because I am a big sook!!!

I woke up this morning with a killer toothache!! . . Had planned a long trip to see my specialist's today but I made hubby ring and cancel and there was NO WAY I was going anywhere . . My poor mouth is so very sore!!

I rang the dentist and NO appointments available for 2 months!! OMG -  that is so slack, so I ask about an emergency app and was told that they no longer had this clinic due to lack of funds!!!! GREAT and I have no money for a private dentist and even if I did it wouldn't do me no good as I have to be sedated before any dental work can be done due to a severe fear of dentists!!

So ALL day today half of my mouth has been my enemy!!! . .  It won't let me eat and I have to drink through a straw!! . . Swallowed my pride and went to the local doctors as I knew there was more going on than just a bad tooth. Seems I have a HUGE abscess right beside my bad tooth . . BAD NEWS for a diabetic . .  GRRR, now taking antibiotics . .

Anyone want to to swap mouths as mine is definitely my enemy and I need a friend right now!!

I have decided that tooth pain is far worse that labour! ! ! Call me an idiot but OMG it HURTS ! ! ! !

Cheerless Kellz

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

You poor girl! I know how you feel. I have horrible teeth, always have (and I brush every day, floss everyday, when my husband rarely does and has no problems, no fillings). Only about 6 months ago I had to go to an emergency all night (and private and expensive) dentist at about 11pm. Cost me $300 and still need to rustle up another $500 (and enough courage) to get the rest of the root canal done... Hopefully the antibiotics can help you out, get rid of the infection and hopefully the pain. Have you tried some iced water, this helped me a little. But make sure you get something done about it (although I'm the worst one to say that, I myself am terrified of dentists, they need to sedate me too) ASAP!!

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

hugs sweety. have had a few myself due to having braceses. not fun at all.

salt water works to clean the area and kill the bacteria as well as the antibiotics. i am dead against mouth wash as i read somewhere that it iss a cause of nouth cancer due to the high alcohol content so i would steer clear of that.

i hope the pain goes away very soon sweety.

Luv Liz

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

Oh I know Kellz..........I was right where you are a few weeks ago, although I didn't have an abscess. I got mine pulled out as you know...$300 later But I'm all better now  It is most definately worse than labour. The antibiotics will kick in with 48 hours and oyu should be a little better. Can you take Panadiene Forte? I works well too.

I hope the pain eases for you soon......toothaches suck big time.

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

I know what that is like, and yes labour is easier to bare cause at least you know it will go away after a few hours!

Try numbing you mouth out by holding a mouthfull of listerine for as long as you can bare. Doesn't do that much, but better than nothing, and if you're lucky it might even help clear the infection.

I think the worst is when the abcess pops and fills your mouth with pus and blood. Thats just eeeewww! Last time I had problems I eventually got the poops with the broken molar that was causing it, and ripped it out with a pair of pliers. It's amazing what you'll do to get a bit of pain relief when you can't get in to see a dentist! Had to be pulled out anyway, so no loss.

Hope yours doens't get that bad! The antibiotics will help a lot, just give it a few days.

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

Oh no, I have had an abscess and I agree with you. Glad you have the antibiotics as I didn't get to the dentist til my whole jaw was the size of a golf ball. Most excruciating pain I have had. I rang my boss sobbing. There was no way I could go anywhere either and I went private. I had little money but I didn't care at the time. The dentist let me pay it off. Sorry mate would not swap as I know but really hope that you get this sorted soon. I did sign a partition somewhere on the dental system. It was in one of the that's life magazines as this lady actually pulled her own tooth out with the pliers. The public system sucks. Good luck Kellz!

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

Ouch i hate toothaches too but if i could take it from you i would and then i would quickly run to my dentist down the road and have it taken out but i hate dentists too but in my case if it gets too bad i will somehow get the courage and go see them. I hope the antibiotics kick in really soon and the pain subsides for you Alana. Thinking of you always your friend Michelle xxx ooo

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

I agree with you Kellz

Toothache is worse than labour, at least you get a couple of minutes break between contractions during labour!! Whenever I have had a toothache it makes the whole of your mouth, neck, head.........scream out

Hope it either stops or you can get an appointment sooner, hopefully the antibiotics can sort it for now

xxx

Re: PAIN - PAIN - PAIN

I really feel for you......I've had bad teeth for a long time. Hate dentists but couldn't stand it any longer. Cut a long story, I had nearly every tooth out, 6 at a time. So much better now.I was on pain killers for ages but it was so worth it.

I so hope it decides to calm down soon, the antibiotics should help.

Another idea is gargling with warmish salty water.
