Hi I am 25 and got married at 19. I was working as a nurse until I took maternity leave, and now I'm loving being a stay-at-home mum to my beautiful son Ethan Wyatt. He was born on the 15th of November 2006 after a 6 hour no complication labour. My husband Les is 29 and works as a Linesman and loves being a dad. We live in a small Coastal Village town near Forster.
Ethan is the first nephew (no nieces yet) grandchild and great-grandchild on my side of the family. The closest family I have is an hour away and the in-laws are 3 hours away. I have 2 sisters (Newcastle area) and a brother (Darwin). Ethan is yet to meet his uncle, But loves seeing his aunts.
The only pets we have fish (African Ciclids) with no names, and 2 Birds a budgie Harry and a Lorikeit. Rylie. |

We began rice cereal on the 1st of May and got some really good faces. Now he can't get it enough of it. If I'm not quick enough I get in trouble. I also gave him baby panadol for the first time on saturday night, it was the cherry/vanilla flavoured stuff. I dribbled a bit trying to suck it into the suringe so I tried it before I gave it to Ethan, I pulled faces it was grose. I new that we would get some good faces so we got out the video camera. None of it got swallowed. Ethan then was too scared to swallow for the next 10 minuts or so, he wouldn't even suck on his dummy. There was panadol and spit everywhere it was quite funny for us. I don't think Ethan was too impressed by it all, somehow.
Ethan is finally trying to roll over, only he is trying to go from his back to his tummy, I think he likes to do things the hard way. He will be 6 months old tomorrow. Time has gone so fast, I can't get over how much he has grown and changed, He is so beautiful. |

Again heaps has happened and then not much has happened. I know that dosen't make much scencs but that is what it has been like lately. Nothing happens for a while then all of a sudden everything happens all at once.
It all started about 2 weeks ago, I had planned to catch up on the house work and all I wanted to do was have a shower, clean the shower' wash the dishes, do some laurndry, sweep the floor, and have breakfast. Ethan had other ideas. He went down for his morning sleep ok and sleped for his usual 40 mims. During that time I had breakfast and did a couple of loads of washing, put his toys away and started the dishes. After Ethans 40 min sleep he will usually lye there and chat to himself or occasionally he will go on and sleep for up to 2 hours. This day was going to be different, he decided that because I wanted to get some stuff done he was going to wake up and just scream until it was time for his next feed. About 1.5 hours away. I had managed to finish the dishes between doing dummy runs and calming him. So I started to sweep the floor. This took a frustrating 2 hours between dummy runs and feeding him. Once he had a full tommy he was fine, he had his play and went back down for a sleep. Ithaught he had it all out of his system he would be fine for the rest of the day. I had resigned myself to the fact that today I wasn't supposed to get a shower. I had some lunch and did another load of laurndry. 40mins was up and Ethan started again. 4:00pm we got visitors that ended staying the night, but then Ethan wanted to play with them and there was no way that he was going to sleep after that. Not much got done after that.
Friday out visitors left at 10:30am and I was trying to get Ethan down when more visitors arrived. 12:00 Here we go again. He could heae them and again wanted to play. No sleep. Once everyone left it was 3 days before he even thaught about getting back into his routine.

It has been a while since I wrote anything but mot much has been happening.
Ethan met his uncle (my brother from Darwin) for the first time last week, It was nice to see him again. I haven't seen him for 2 years. We also had a family Easter at my parents house and met up with some of the extended famiy. It was nice but cold.
Ethan has been pretty good. He is making so many noises now. We sometimes feel like turning the TV up a bit because he gets so loud sometimes. It is so cute. Everything has started going into his mouth now. It is all dripping wet with spit. It is funny when he puts hisfingers in his mouth and gags on them. not knowing that if he pulls them out he will stop choking.
Since daylight savings has finished Ethan has been waking up early and not going back to sleep. I have not been picking him up in the hope that he might drop off to sleep again. When I finally do pick him up he gives me the biggest smile and an excited little giggle it is so cute. He will also do it if he thinks I'm about to pick him up, but all he gets is his dummy. Most of the time I put him in bed with me and we have a cuddle. If he looks like he is going to go to sleep he goes back into the bassinnett. I'm scared of falling asleep when he is in bed with me, I've heard too many stories of babies being smothered (mabe 1or 2 but it still scares me enough not to do it) from being rolled onto by a sleeping parent. We occasionally get a morning sleep-in when he will stay asleep. |

Thank goodness we have a fish tank. It is better than the TV. Over the last few evenings (since he had his injections) Ethan has been getting really clingy of a night and is hard to get settled so I spend a lot of time standing in front of the fish tank and it really settles him down. I'd do anything not to stand in front of the TV if I can help it.
This week Ethan has found his voice and loves chatting away trying to tell stories it is really cute. He has also found that his hands are a good substitute when he hasn't got his dummy, even if they are covered with the sheet. I'll check on him when he is supposed to be going to sleep and the sheet will be wringing wet.
Other than that we have had an overall good week compared to the last one.
