Me and My Family

Rachael's school Graduation - NSHS 2004
Rachael's school Graduation - NSHS 2004

Both my husband & I have been married before.  I have 2 children from my first marriage Sarah 37, married with 2 children 3 & 6 living in Southampton, U.K., & Peter 32, married last February & lives in Melbourne.

I met my husband John when I was 35, had Rachael 21 when I was just over 36 & Steven (1700gms) who is almost 19 when I was almost 38 years old.

Have been in Aussie for over 20 years now & have lived in every state.  Once our youngest son Steven went to Uni in Perth we decided to move & build a house in Albany WA.  Had to cancel our move here for 2 weeks as I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer but I've been so very lucky - only just over 3 years till my remission is finished.

Over the years each of our children had different problems.  The worst was self cutting & over dosing which put both my husband & I under a tremendous strain.  Four years on with our daughter attending the Bronte foundation in Melbourne, she is a lot better.  Just wished we lived nearer to all our children & Grandies.

Stay at home Mums

Comment Published at 07:3207:321 comments1 comments22 Visits22 VisitsReport

Hi Sharonv3078,

Congratulations at being a "stay at home Mum".  In this day & age, a lot of Mums have to go out to work & put their children in Day Care.  I suppose I was lucky that I didn't have to work part-time until my oldest son was 3, my daughter was 6 & I'd been on my own for over a year as my husband had an affair & I just couldn't share him.

Although I married again when I was 35, then came out to Aussie from the U.K. I had another 2 kids- Rachael was 4lbs 9ozs & 5 weeks early & Steven our youngest was only 1700g & 6 weeks early. I just can't  imagine not being around when all of my kids said their 1st.  word, smile, crawl, tried to feed themselves & their lst. steps.  I've always been there for my children.  Financially it was pretty tough going but I made the kids clothes, cooked & chopped all their meals (lots of vegies from the garden) & just being there for them trying to create a wonderful close family unit.  Playing games, not watching much t.v. apart from Playschool etc which was their relaxing time.

My eldest daughter in the U.K. put our grandaughter into day care when she was only 3 months old, so my daughter could go out & have her nails/hair done.  She has internet shoping delivered to her kitchen, cleaner, gardener & even someone to clean her Oven!!!!!!!!!  I keep saying to my hubby "Oh I must have worked too hard bringing up my kids & where did I go wrong"?

Please enjoy your children, you'll be there to capture everything they do.  Perhaps later on maybe you could get a part-time job during school hours.

Anyway all the best to you & good luck.  Please when you have time, just have a quick look at my profile.

I'm a very Proud Mum

Comment Published at 23:3823:381 comments1 comments19 Visits19 VisitsReport

Been so busy recently with driving up tp Perth (5-6 hrs drive away) to see various specialists.  Last wkend went back to our old "town" where there is only 1 supermarket & it was 37C.  Oh boy was it hot.  I'm just starting to get ready for Xmas & it will be really quiet with just John & I being here.  My oldest son Peter who got married in Melbourne last Feb, well his mother-in-law has paid for a houseboat on the Murray River & there is room for both our youngests.

Must tell everyone that Steven (my baby) finished Uni 3 weeks ago & got 2 Distinctions  & 2 Credits. He will be start working for Price Waterhouse in Perth next month where for the next 2 yr's will work for his Chartered Accountacy so yes I am walking around with a huge smile on my face.

Love to you all,

Krys

Hi Everyone,

You must have thought that I'd left the country but I've had a lot of medical problems, going up to Perth (5-6 hours drive from here) to see Specialist.  Our youngest son Steven has been home for 2 weeks since finishing Uni.  John my other half has also been to Perth is see various specialists & they still can't find out what's wrong with him.

Anyway I thought I'd touch base with you all after my absence for a couple of weeks.  I've missed going to Minti everyday since we've been away.

Love to you all,

Krys
