Bella do it!

Comment Published at 17:1917:1910 comments10 comments29 Visits29 VisitsReport

OK - miss B is determined that now she is 2 she can do everything herself and will scream unless you let her.  This includes dressing and undressing, making her lunch, carrying her bowl to the table, even getting in and out of the car.  She will also help herself to food and I am getting really frustrated at the waste!  I went to make myself a coffee this morning and we have gone through 5L of milk since Wednesday!  There is only 1L left to do us until this Wednesday and B has just made herself cereal and tipped milk all over the table!  GGGGRRRR!  Still, I guess I should be grateful as this seems to translate to helping with the washing up and housework too - good girl!  One major difference between my 2 - then again R is a boy!  Are they genetically averse to housework?  Anyway, he turns 5 this week and preparations are getting fierce - I'll keep you all posted!

Re: Bella do it!

My grand-daughter Emily is 2 in September and she too likes to dress and undress herself. My daughter in law told me the other day she was looking after another little two year old they were playing happily but then when she looked around Emily had taken off all her clothes and was putting them on the other little girl .She said she had to laugh at her

Re: Bella do it!

Hope Rs party preparations are going well? Funny little Bella - Sophie (20 months) has just decided she should self-feed yogurt, so everything is getting splattered! Solids were ok but runny things...! Can I suggest some adult trickery with the milk (get R in on this if necessary or treat him the same) - do you buy milk in resealable containers? If so, keep a SMALL one and put Bs pic on it, tell her it is her very own milk, and just put what you can get away with in it, refilling daily? Em likes to help herself from our pint milk bottles, so if theres a whole pint there it ALL goes into the bowl (and gets left grrr). So I try to decant a little into a pretty little jug, and she's never refused me yet! Hope that helps?

Our 2 year old is little miss helpful too.  Sometimes you do wish that they didn't have to be so independent so young, but I guess it can be a good thing too.

Yes, so many parents have told me to be grateful as independence and self-sufficiency is a really good trait and will certainly do her well later in life.  It's just frustrating when the desire doesn't match the ability!
