Happy Hallloween from the Drunkin' Pumpkin !

Still Friday here, barely ... We bought a Christmas cactus last year in December .... and it is beginning to bloom again already .... I had forgotten how beautiful this plant is when it is in bloom (most of the year it is just greenery, not so pretty) .... Each bud looks like a colorful tropical bird in flight ! What a delight ! Hope the pictures do it justice ! It really is very beautiful and exotic ! The last photo shows two buds ... one bud fully open (on the left) the other not fully opened on the right ... The one on the left  looks like a beautiful bird in flight !

                                          

                               

Okay, so I never bragged ! I swear ! My son turned one on this past Friday the 13th ... no big deal .... I do not believe in bad "luck" ... However ....

I was blessed to be healthy all throughout my pregnancy (even though I took no special care of myself during the first five months because I did not know I was pregnant) .... Birth went great and son and mom (me) have been okay and healthy for one full year .... Well, needless to say the Monday before his birthday I nearly broke my ankle ... literally ... so mom (me) was toughing it out to get things ready for Friday, on crutches ... Well, it all got done and Friday the 13th morning come and my boy ran off my big bed, hit the floor and sprained his little arm ... well, he was not the happy little guy he usually is for his first birthday party .... but we got through entertaining a few guests and at least got some pictures of his first birthday with the photos of the messy cake on the face ... Then the following Wednesday (this week) my usual happy guy cried all day ! Oh, baby what can be wrong ? Teething ? Nope ! Thursday, his slightly red eyes turned to big puffy red eyes with tearing and yucky discharge by evening. Hello, first emergency room visit ! Okay, so he was diagnosed with "conjuctivitus" (viral infection of the eyes, or most know it as "pink eye") .... Not just one eye but both ! So, hours at the emergency ward, exams and a shot ... Well, they sent me to my regular doctor on Friday for a follow up exam and more medicine ! ..... Oh , my ! Three hospital visits, two injured persons and one ill baby all in two weeks !!! Will Friday the 13th ever end ?!

Like I said before I never bragged ! My son and I went through his entire first year of life with no injuries and no illness .... It's just a fact, and I never bragged .... So stop "punishing" me all at once, okay ! hahaha ! Thank God it has all been "minor" things that have happened that we will hopefully recovery from with time and tenderness ....

     What a strange little cloud I saw this evening .... See that strange whispy one below the belt of clouds? It looked more amazing in person ...

Oh my goodness, my usual happy boy cried all day long ! ALL DAY ! oh, my ! After ruling out everything else, all I can think is my boy is teething again ... So fussy and so unhappy ! Wow, what a day ! Hope tomorrow is better ....

My husband and I were just discussing education ... He was in favor of fourteen years of public education ,,,, two years added to the twelve years of public school .... What difference is this going to make when twelve years of public school does not make any diifference .. I am in favor of home school ............... what do you think ?

My husband lost his glasses on Friday the 13th  ! What a week ..... I finally found the glasses today ... wrapped up in some bedding ... wow ! All week I nearly broke my ankle, glasses lost, lots of spills, etc ... and babies arm sprained .... Friday the 13th indeed ! What an eventful Friday the 13th week ! I am not superstitious.... however, what a week !

Jacob's first birthday and I have two photos to play with and see what happens

My son's first birthday was a success. However that very morning my husband brought baby Jacob to our big bed when he was off to work. Jacob immediately ran off the edge of the bed, hit the floor and sprained his little arm ! Friday the 13th indeed ! So, Jacob was unable to be his super happy self like usual for his birthday, but we did have a nice visit with family and friends ....snacks, cake and ice cream as well as presents ...

Jacob's first year snuck up on me so quick ... with moving, getting settled in and so on ... that I did not really plan for much. Besides that, well I had an accident Monday on the stairs ... I was taking the laundry basket down to the utility room Monday afternoon and over stepped the last step and twisted my ankle with all my weight ... Ouch ! I thought it was just going to be a really really bad sprain, so I put ice on it and rested ... Tuesday my ankle/foot was the size of a grapefruit and completely blue ! After a hospital visit I was relieved to know that my ankle was not broke .... no broken bones, but I have a severe tendon tear ... Severe ... Rest, ice, elevate, ibuprofen and if it does not get better or if it gets worse, then visit a podiatrist for further medical attention (i.e. surgery/therapy) ... "Momma" (me) can not be incapacitated ! So let's pray all goes well and it will heal comfortably so I can chase my little Jacob around ! I do have crutches so I am again mobile ... It is so ironic, I was crawling around on all fours and Jacob was walking around ! How silly is that ! hahaha .... Momma is crawling and baby is walking ! ....

My boy's first birthday is coming up this Friday the 13th ! And I am most incapacitated ! but I will make due and try to make my son's first birthday special ...

Missed it again,haha, but here are photos for Friday .... One of my kitties, Pete, loves the baby ! Pete was our one kitty that would get in my bag I was packing for the hospital ... Pete loves anything baby related ... He will grab and take off with pj's I just took off of the baby ... Pete plays with the baby's toys ... Just last night Pete opened the baby's bedroom door and was in there with the baby ! Pete comes running when he hears the baby cry ... As it all goes, Pete is definitely Jacob's kitty cat !
