Mature?

Comment Published at 01:0301:034 comments4 comments22 Visits22 VisitsReport

I was thinking much to myself since things at home got frosty.. that perhaps I have become mature enough to accept that sometimes I just do not like my partner very much...and that he does not like me very much.

And I understand that life is, generally, for many people, boring and full of talk about bills, cat food, putting out the rubbish and child care.

At times, many times I find I have to substitute "respect" for the far less stable "romantic love". Other times I find that respect is difficult to maintain..

I also realise that when the going gets tough, the weak tend to get going...right out the door, throwing in the towel.

I'm staying in this long term... my children deserve two parents and I have to believe that after a 'winter' of time there will be a 'spring' again.

Re: Mature?

I sometimes wonder if my keeping restrained for the sake of avoiding a fighting involving him insulting me and yelling is really worth it!

Re: Mature?

We all go through times like that.  People comment on how my partner and I are well suited and what a perfect relationship we have, but they don't see everything that goes on in our home.  There are times when I just want to kick him out so I can have my own space for a while (he's an invader of my study!).  We talk about anything and everything, and if we find that we've nothing to talk about, we start talking nonsense, which usually ends with both of us laughing so hard the neighbours must think we are totaly nuts.

a relationship takes work.  It is a constant game of give and take.  We get there if we work at it, but if you are the only one doing all the working on it, then it isn't fair on you or your family.

I'm sure that you will find love in your relationship again, and that it will change and come and go, but like you said, that's life.
