I am a mother of three boys, a step daughter and two stepsons. I have been married for eight years and had to go through some adjustment periods. Now that the kids are getting older...there is a whole new set of worries. A parents job is never done! I enjoy writing and started again after many years of trying to figure out what I want to be. Feel free to stop by my BLOG...I write inspirational advice, post pictures and weekly updates lisapetrarca.blogspot.com
We are a big sports family. The kids play football, basketball, run track, and surf. My husband coaches and I help him out whenever I have a free moment, which needless to say, with all the running around between sports, it isn't as often as I would like.
I feel I have a lot of experience in raising kids and stepchildren and hope that my advice and/or experiences will be beneficial to other moms.
I also have a business website stopwrinkles.nsedreams.com/main/default.aspx stop by and find a new way to make money from home.

I submitted pictures of my son to the top modeling agencies in the world because he needed to find a job and I'm a "think outside the box" type of person. We received 3 immediate responses, with two of them battling for him. We finally signed with the agency who seemed to move their models to the top the quickest Red Model Management.
He was immediately posted as Red Hot! on MODELS.COM (See Here)...this was crazy...it happened so fast. They posted a You Tube video of him (you can tell he didn't know what to say...LOL). Next he was flying off to New York for a week (he comes home tomorrow) for several photo shoots and castings. Calvin Klein gave him their brand new clothing line to wear for a photo shoot! Homme Star posted his polaroid that I took (not bad for an amateur huh?)
Click the links above and check out some of his pics and leave comments if you want...he LOVES them. This has been quite a whirlwind experience. They said he may even go to Milan in June to walk at fashion week...not bad for a 17 year old kid! We're all so happy for him!!

We had a very emotional day yesterday. Jullien called me to run him over to the hospital because one of our friends son had just passed away. I was in shock, tried to wrap up the work I was right in the middle of, but my brain was in a fog. I kept thinking, "It can't be true, he'll be okay."
When we arrived at the hospital, there were tons of people there from the high school already, standing and crying in the hall. It was just unbelievable...a 16 year old isn't supposed to die. We have known the family for years. Our kids have played on rival baseball teams and on the same All Star Team for several years in a row.
The dad and his two sons had just returned from their "DREAM COME TRUE" Superbowl. They have been die hard Steelers fans since we first met them. Not just any typical fan...they had flags flying around their house, on their motor home, cars and the dad wore his Steelers jacket year round. They had gone to the game and had the time of their lives...they got to see their beloved Steelers win the Superbowl in person.
The oldest son had been sick and yesterday in the early morning hours was vomiting. His little brother found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. They had revived him at the hospital a few times but eventually were unable to.
They held a candlelight vigil for him last night with over 100 people from the community attending. It was an incredible outpouring of love. The parents attended and thanked everyone for their love and support. They are just in complete shock. I couldn't believe they were even able to show up, I don't think I could have.
Later that evening as I got ready for bed I couldn't help but think about the things that keep me awake at night. All of the worrying over bills, money, my schedule, work...these things are all meaningless. Our kids, spouse, parents, brothers/sisters, grandparents- FAMILY, FRIENDS AND GOOD HEALTH is the only thing that really matters in this world.
Make sure you stop and put your priorities straight today. Hug your kids and family members, tell them you love them, stop stressing and worrying over the unimportant things of this life. This could be the last day you have them...did you waste your time on worrying, instead of building a loving relationship with the people who mean the most to you. My friends would give up everything they have in this world to be able to hug, kiss and talk to their child again.
I needed to be reminded of this and I know a lot of you probably do too. |

While searching on Craig's List, looking for a job for Josh. I stumbled across an open casting call for a new Nickelodeon Game Show. It was asking for kids ages 11-14, who are fun, intelligent, talkative and competitive. They said to send pictures...I thought, just like every mom probably thinks, I KNOW my son meets all of those qualifications...and he's cute! I sent in three pictures of Elijah...

and they said, "Come on down"...wait, that's the Price is Right, they said, "Come in for an audition."
So today at 4:00 p.m. Elijah will audition for a new game show called, "BrainSurge." We've never gone to an audition before, but I'm sure there's going to be hundreds of kids there...and mom's who think their son is PERFECT for this. I'm anxious to see if the whole "stage mom" thing is true. I'll just be sitting back laughing and trying to write some more of my book.
Anthony and Adam are coming too and after the audition we are going to go down to Melrose and walk around...the store's there are really cool. I wish we had money to buy stuff, but it'll be fun anyway. It's nice to take our little sheltered Orange County boys down to the big city. I'll let you know how the whole thing goes. Wish him luck!! |

(TGI Fridays)
Yesterday was my birthday, my mom's birthday and now we have a new little edition to celebrate our day. My sister April had a beautiful baby boy, Tyce, who weighed 8lbs, 20 inches. So now we will have a triple celebration every year. What a great birthday present!
I had a great day, my work took me out to a huge lunch. Then when it came time for my family to take me out to dinner, I wasn't even hungry. I pushed the dinner time all the way back to 7:00 p.m. hoping I would get my appetite back, but it didn't happen. Luckily I have tons of boys who are NEVER full, they cleaned their plates and then polished off the rest of my dinner.

Everyone showed up except for Natascha...she had a final at school. We took some pictures in this really cool courtyard, it had water streams running through, waterfalls, and abstract art. We all climbed up on this mini pyramid looking thing to take a picture, when the security guard came charging towards us (I don't think we were supposed to be standing on it). The kids took off running and the guard started to go after them, then he walked towards us and just looked at us...he wanted to say something, but I think he was shocked that we weren't kids. So we calmly kept walking and when we reached the kids we told them that the guy was chasing them down. They said, "REALLY" and all started laughing.

We seem to cause trouble wherever we go...even when we're just trying to take pictures. What's up with that? All in all it was a really good day...besides the fact that I'm getting older (YUCK!!)
