It was a battle, it came down to the last few minutes of the game, but we pulled it off, we won 28-21. You always think that with a win you'll be happy, but my son played really bad and got moved to a different position during the game because of it. He was in a TERRIBLE mood yesterday and today. It's hard seeing your kids hurt and upset even when they're older. You try to find the right things to say to lift them back up and build their confidence again to go out there and give it one more try. I guess that's just like life though. You'll find lessons through your failures and disappointments. The hard thing is teaching your children to never give up!!
Just so you know, as your kids get older you think that they don't need you as often, but when they are upset and hurting, you realize how much your words can uplift them or hurt them even more. I find it hard to make sure I say just the right thing, and sometimes come up short. I guess when words wont help, just a hug will ease the pain. I need to remember that because I tend to talk to much.
On another note, I wrote advice today about my experience walking for a cure for breast cancer this morning. Please read it, I was amazed at the amount of young women that have lost their lives to this disease. The number of young teenage girls walking with t-shirts that read, "I walk in memory of my mother", just broke my heart. It sure kicked me in the butt!! I will be getting my mammogram next month, all of us need to stay on top of our health.
