Oh No...Another "Episode" on Mother's Day

Comment Published at 17:5317:538 comments8 comments24 Visits24 VisitsReport

I had Mother's day over at my house this time and cooked for my husband's mom and sister's and all of their kids (my mom lives in a different state).  We usualIy go to his mom's house cuz I don't like to cook, but I thought it would be nice to give them a break for a change.  My oldest son Josh had texted me in the morning and asked if someone could pick him up later (he was at his dad's).  You can refer to my earlier blog about my two boys' HUGE confrontation and they still haven't made up.  So when my middle son Jullien heard that Josh was coming over, he asked if he could leave because he said, "I HATE that kid and NEVER want to see him again!"  I said,"It's Mother's Day and NO you can't leave, it would be the best present  for me if you guys could please forgive each other!"  He said,  "I WILL NEVER  FORGIVE HIM!!"

So, my step-daughter went and picked him up for me (remember he got the DUI so they took his license away).  We were having a great day, (my food even turned out really good, LOL).  Josh got here and I could tell he was drunk, his father had been having a barbeque and just let's him get hammered (he's only 19, legal drinking age here is 21).  He immediately went up into my room and got on the computer.  Jullien went into my room to get a movie, not knowing that his brother was in there.  Josh closed the door behind him and blocked his way so that he couldn't get out.  Jullien's girlfriend came running downstairs and said, "You better go upstairs..Josh and Jullien are in the room together." I started to run upstairs but my husband said, "Let me take care of it."  Next thing is all I heard was YELLING and a big "thud".  I ran upstairs with my two sister-in-laws right behind me.  Jullien was screaming, "I don't except your apology because you're drunk!!! Why don't you try doing it when you're sober."  As I opened the door Jullien went running right passed me and hit his bedroom door as he headed into his room.  Josh was telling my husband, "I was just trying to apologize for what I said because I feel really bad and the only way I can really get out what I want to say is when I'm drinking.  My husband said, "Jullien can't stand to see you drunk and he really cares about you that's why it bother's him so much!"  Josh said, "Whatever...I'm leaving because I did what I came here to do."  He had a big bottle of wine so I took it from him and dumped it down the sink!  I started crying and then he left.

So my Mother's Day wasn't that great, but I guess the positive side is that at least Josh tried to apologize...I'm hoping that will be a step towards getting the boys to reconcile.  Tonight my husband and Josh will be playing in a mens softball league, (first game).  I called to pick up Josh so he can go to the batting cages to practice with my husband, but he said, "I don't want to come over to the house because it's just too stressful."  So we are going to leave early for the game so that he doesn't have to see his brother.  I just need to keep praying and having faith that it will all work out.

Not good.  But kids will be kids and they are old enough to make their own decisions.  Deep down they still love each other, and you have to trust that they will be man enough to admit in the end.

Glad the food turned out.  Must have been yummy!  Oh, send some my way! lol.  Aside from that episode, how was the rest of your day?

Lisa You must feel like your heart is being torn apart

Its bad enough watching them fight when they are young but to see them at it when adults must be heartbreaking

I pray too that things soon calm down and they are able to accept each other and stop hurting everyone

xxx

Re: Oh No...Another

You're so right Nell...I had hoped things would get easier as they got older, this was totally unexpected.  I guess we never know how are kids will turn out, we can raise them all the same and each one has their own individual trials and struggles.  I just keep trying to have faith that all the values I tried to instill in them will eventually bring us all back together again.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, it really means alot.

Luv, Lisa

Thanks Fi, me too!  There is nothing harder than seeing your children divided, hurt, angry and sad.

Re: Oh No...Another

Certainly tears a mum apart that's for sure. I wish I had some magical answer for you but I don't unfortunately. These boys should wake up to themselves soon and realise just what damage they are doing. In the meantime you look after yourself. I know that this has got to be pulling you down. Take some time for you, try and relax when you can. Got my fingers tightly crossed that they wake to themselves really soon.

fi xoxo

Re: Oh No...Another

Bel,

Well, it was actually pretty good up to that point, so I guess I have to feel grateful to have had half of a good Mother's Day.  At least I'm growing and trying to find some positive in every situation.  It makes everything a little more tolerable!

Thank you for your concern, it means a lot to have your support!!!

Luv,

Lisa
