We Won!!!

by LisaPetrarcaComment Published at 20:0820:083 comments3 comments63 Visits63 VisitsReport

It was a battle, it came down to the last few minutes of the game, but we pulled it off, we won 28-21.  You always think that with a win you'll be happy, but my son played really bad and got moved to a different position during the game because of it.  He was in a TERRIBLE mood yesterday and today.  It's hard seeing your kids hurt and upset even when they're older.  You try to find the right things to say to lift them back up and build their confidence again to go out there and give it one more try.  I guess that's just like life though.  You'll find lessons through your failures and disappointments.  The hard thing is teaching your children to never give up!!

Just so you know, as your kids get older you think that they don't need you as often, but when they are upset and hurting, you realize how much your words can uplift them or hurt them even more.  I find it hard to make sure I say just the right thing, and sometimes come up short.  I guess when words wont help, just a hug will ease the pain.  I need to remember that because I tend to talk to much.

On another note, I wrote advice today about my experience walking for a cure for breast cancer this morning.  Please read it, I was amazed at the amount of young women that have lost their lives to this disease.  The number of young teenage girls walking with t-shirts that read, "I walk in memory of my mother", just broke my heart.  It sure kicked me in the butt!!  I will be getting my mammogram next month, all of us need to stay on top of our health.

Big Game Update

by LisaPetrarcaComment Published at 23:5323:530 comments0 comments82 Visits82 VisitsReport
I just got back from the football game, it was supposed to be raining during the game, but luckily it didn't start till we got home.  Well, we lost 0-6.  It was our first loss and the boys are pretty upset.  The team made a lot of mistakes, but they have a Junior Varsity game tomorrow at 1:00, so hopefully they can win in that game.  Obviously not as important as the Varsity game was, but at least they can maybe get a win to feel better.  Let ya know tomorrow.

Hi Everyone

by LisaPetrarcaComment Published at 21:5821:581 comments1 comments12 Visits12 VisitsReport

First off, I want to thank everyone for your prayers!  My niece is doing a lot better.  She is responding well to her anti rejection medicine.  She even told her mom today that she was ready to go home!  My sister goes in tomorrow for more tests.  Hopefully they can figure out what's going on.  Thanks again for all your support.

Well I know it's been a while since I've had time to write so here's what's been going on in my life.  My schedule has been crazy since the kids went back to school.  Then to top it off, my son Jullien broke his right finger during football practice and then three days later, broke his left wrist during his football game.  Two days later my step son, Dillon cut his hand and needed 10 stitches.  So lots of visits to the emergency room and Dr.'s.  The funny thing is that my son is still playing with his cast on, they just wrap this huge cushion thing around it and tape it up.  It looks funny!  He refuses to wear the splint on his broken finger so he just keeps re injuring it.  Whatever, what are ya gonna do with teenagers?  I just go with the flow so I don't get to stressed out.

So, tomorrow is our HUGE football game against a private school who is able to recruit players, so needless to say they have a bunch of guys that are 6'8 300 lbs.  We are a public school, and just take what is in the area.  Our school is the #1public school football team though.  Anyways, my son will be rotating in on the Varsity team as a linebacker.  This is only his second time that he has gotten to play that position.  The fact that they are letting him in during this really important game, (we are both undefeated), is a big compliment.  He's super nervous, but I know he'll do good.  Keep your fingers crossed !  I'll attach a picture of the huge thing on his arm and a picture of  my  two injured sons.

As for me, I went to the doctor today to check a spot that looked like it was skin cancer, to much time out in the sun.  Luckily it was just precancerous and she gave me a cream to put on it.  I was kind of stressing out about the appt. because my grandma had skin cancer, so it was a relief that it was very minor and I am getting it early.

We had a visit from the police yesterday, they just passed this new animal nuisance law where if your dog barks for 30 minutes in a 24 hr. period, a neighbor can complain and they give you a warning, if they complain again then you get a $250.00 fine and it keeps going up.  I was mad because what if you just have a vindictive neighbor and they keep complaining just to spite you?  We are trying to leave her in the house, but who knows, people will find a reason to complain.  This new law SUCKS!  I think that should catch you all up to date.  Hopefully I will have good news tomorrow after the game!!!!!
