My dad was just diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer a couple of days ago at the age of 60. He stopped smoking about 30 years ago. He had a recent cough and some chest pain so he went to the dr.'s and they saw a spot on his lung. They went in for a biopsy, they came out and told my mom that it's inoperable and can choose chemo to prolong his life.
We are all really struggling with this right now, especially my mom who has never gotten over my brother's death. My dad however is so upbeat and trying to stay positive. He said, "Don't worry, I'm going to be around for a while!" He is still in the hospital until they can remove the fluid from his lung. They will hopefully release him in a couple of days. He was due to retire from the police dept. in a few months and was looking forward to it...now this!
We will be driving up to Utah to spend Christmas with my family for the first time in 14 years (we never have the time off or the money). It is going to be very hard but we are happy to be able to go this year even under the circumstances.
We would appreciate your prayers for my dad, Dave Bolda. It's in God's hands now and we are praying for a miracle. |
