IN 2 HOURS TIME I WENT INTO LABOUR WITH MY SON A WHOLE 3 YEARS AGO IT WAS 21 HOURS AND 1 MINUTE OF SHEER AND UTTER PAIN FULL OF COMPLICATIONS BUT WORTH EVERY SECOND AND NOW I SIT HERE WONDERING WHERE THE PAST 3 YEARS HAVE GONE!! HE IS A BLESSING AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LITTLE MAN.. MUMMY LOVES YOU!!!!

The Special Mother

Most women become mothers by accident, some by choice, a few by social pressures and a couple by habit. This year thousands of mothers will give birth to a premature baby. Did you ever wonder how mothers of preemies are chosen?

Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth selecting His instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As He observes, He instructs His angels to make notes in a giant ledger.

"Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron saint, Matthew.
"Forest, Majorie, daughter. Patron saint, Ceceila.
"Rutledge, Carrie, twins. Patron saint... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity.

Finally, He passes a name to an angel and smiles, "Give her a premature baby."
The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."

"Exactly, " smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who does not know laughter? That would be cruel."

"But does she have patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she will drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it.

"I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence that are so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has his own world. She has to make it live in her world and that's not going to be easy."

"But, Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."
God smiles, "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just enough selfishness."

The angel gasps, "Selfishness? Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she'll never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child who comes in a less than perfect way. She doesn't realize it yet, but she is to be envied.

"She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says 'Mommy' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. When she describes a tree or a sunset to her blind child, she will see it as few people ever see my creations.

"I will permit her to see clearly the things I see - ignorance, cruelty, prejudice - and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."

"And what about her patron saint?" asks the angel, the pen poised in mid-air.

God smiles. "A mirror will suffice."

we went to westmead this morning our appt was for 8:30 am we didnt see the surgeon til 10.. GRRR anyway they said yep he needs more surgery and hopefully we can do it before january!!! so atleast the ball is rolling..

So after doctor number 7 we get a diagnosis of impertiago with a secndary bacterial infection ... yay.. a short course of anti biotics and she is blister free!! ( the anti biotic cream was clearing the blisters but not clearing the infection carried around in her blood)  so she is all good now.. thanks everyone for your advice and care!

On monday we are going to westmead to see my son's sugreon to see when he will do his next surgery so wish us luck that its sooner rather than later!

WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW ON MONDAY AFTERNOON, HOW WE WENT AT WESTMEAD!!

So today my little man had a DMSA scan which is a detailed look at his kidneys. We showed up at 8:30am and got the numbing cream put on his arm then had to go away for half an hour then get the Radio-Active dye injected then go away for 3 hours! i asked the Sonographer how they intended on keeping a 3 year old still on a small metal surface for 1 whole hour and he said " we have our ways" all the meanwhile thinking they were gonna use happy gas. WRONG, they wrapped him like a baby and then TAPED him to the bed and i mean they TAPED him the whole time he was screaming and begging me for help and all i could do was stare at him and touch is head. The poor child could not understand why this was happening to him and why i refused to help him, i could not stop crying>

After half an hour he litereally passed out and sobbed for the rest of the time, after the procedure he ran into his grand mothers arms and wouldnt come near me for a few hours! All in all this was horrible if i had of known this was going to happen i would have tried to prepare him and done some role play.  Tonight after the bath he freaked when i tried to wrap the towel around him and has already had a nightmare!  Sorry guys just needed to vent, that was the hardest thing i have done. Having your child scream "mummy help me please" and just having to sit there is the worst feeling!!       I cant even describe it.. Ugh i feel like crap.....  i hope this hasnt done any long term damage to our relationship!

its been one of those days already its only 9 am. I have been up since 10 to 5 this morning and the kids just have not stopped getting into mischeif and much to my own disgust i have not stopped yelling since this morning, my 13 month old doesnt sleep through the night yet and its driving me crazy, my 3 year old wont sleep in his bed he has to sleep on the couch and then at around 4am when he realises he is in his bed he gets up and raises hell until i put him back to sleep on the couch.. This is all taking its toll on my patience.. ugh its only 9am and i cant wait for the day to be over already... ( anyone how has any advice on how to get my lil miss to sleep through would be appreiciated)

I would just like to say that although i have not known you very long i feel like i have known you my entire life you are so strong and brave and positive even with all thats going on. You might not have the support from your family but you have it right here. Thanks for letting me into your family!!
