My family and I live in the foothills of the beautiful Appalachian Mountians in Southeastern Ohio. My husband is in Law Enforcement and I am an Investigator for our local Children's Services agency. While our jobs are stressful we do have the pleasure of working together on occasion and since we work different shifts our daugher can always be with one of us. On the rare occasion we do require childcare one of the grandparents step in since we live within 45 minutes of our immediate families (as do most Appalachian families). While I did not grow up close to my grandparents or other familiy I am thrilled my daugher will have this opportunity and I wouldn't have it any other way.
We are a proud Irish/Italian combo family and while my husband is Itialian and I am Irish he swears that I've got garlic rather than Gaelic in my blood because I LOVE Italian food and cook it all the time. As a matter of fact, I craved Italian food when I was pregnant and ate something with tomatoes once a day despite my horrific heartburn.
In case you wondered about the name "lizardsmom" my husband noticed that when my daughter was born she spent a great deal of time flicking her tongue in and out of her mouth, not unlike a lizard. Thus, the poor child has carried the nickname ever since.
