Goodness time flies! I can't believe I haven't been on this site since Christmas. But that happens when you work full time and have half a dozen babies.

I haven't got a lot to tell really except that its been head down- bum up at work and at home.

Hopefully I will be on again soon enough!

Am I old??

Comment Published at 02:5702:573 comments3 comments101 Visits101 VisitsReport

Well it's finally happened - I'm a grown up!

I just waved goodbye to my eldest child (16) going on her first date and I don't know how to feel. She is beautiful, intelligent and most of all - trustworthy. I am caught between overwhelming pride and a fearful sense of AGE! Iam 34 yrs old - I'm not ready for this.

I bought this baby home from the hospital in June 1990 - almost yesterday - so small and premmie she wore clothes made for a Cabbage Patch Kid home from the hospital, and now she is in the car with a 19yr old boy - going bowling.

Where does the time go????

I was not much older than her when I had her - so I do have to admit I am worried, but then I have to trust - I have to trust her and her ability to do what is right - and I have to trust my instincts as a parent, I also have to trust that I have raised her in the best way I knew how!

All in all - I think I did alright.

I'll keep you posted!

It's been a while!!!!

I haven't been on the site for a while now have I? I can't believe how long its been actually, life is so hectic right now, with Xmas coming up, having a full time job and 6 kids! But not to worry.

I work for a trade union in Australia and its FULL ON right now with the Government changing the Industrial Relations Laws. I spend every day trying to educate people on how unfair these laws really are and campaining to get rid of the Laws and the government that introduced them.

Every day people are calling for help because the laws strip people of their rights and entitlements. People are losing holiday pay, sick leave, and the right to be in a union, as well as being sacked for no good reason. Australians need to join together and stand up for everything that is fair and reasonable. Get active Australia - join your union and support the campaign to get rid of these laws.

Your rights at work are worth fighting and voting for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today has been hell!

Admit it  - parenting is HARD, and I defy anyone to tell me different!

Its Sunday evening and I am really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow morning. I don't say that because I don't want to be with my kids, I say it because I am realistic and if I am honest its just so much easier going to work!!

Cleaning day has turned into cleaning weekend! The kids rooms, need I say more? The arguments, tantrums, and stress over room cleaning have got to a point that I have thrown up my hands in despair, and started writing my blog! Sometimes its just better to let them go, yell at each other and I choose to do something else, rather than try and problem solve for them.

I listen to them yell at each other and wonder why they spend so much energy yelling - if they put all that yelling energy into cleaning energy, their rooms would be spotless in a flash.

Thats what being an adult is all about isnt it? Knowing when and where to use all that energy. One day they will see that they should "choose their fights" and fight over things that matter.

They are children, at the moment, the world is all about them, the day will come when they understand that these little arguments were silly and there are more important things to fight about - like poverty, human rights abuse, and unfair working conditions.

We just have to be patient, and let them work these things out in the short term, so they they grow to see whats fair, and whats not fair, whats right and what is unjust.. These small people are our future, our job is to see that they make it into adulthood safely, so that they can go on to make an impact in our world, thats what parenting is all about.

I hope I am making all the right choices and that I am giving them all they need to succeed - Only time will tell!

My first blog!!!

This is a little scary isn't it? What do I say?

Well its Saturday Morning and as I work full time during the week, its cleaning day!! Don't get me wrong Wayne is the best "house husband" and a fantastic dad, but he is still new at this, so I do the finishing touches on the weekend!

Wayne really is an amazing guy! We met, fell in love and had a baby and got married within a year - I wouldn't necessarily recommend it ( I would normally advise caution) but it works for us!

He's either very brave or completely insane, but he walked into a relationship with a single mum of 4, with his eyes wide open! And took to it like a duck to water. He cooks, cleans, plays, feeds, bathes, and parents like he's been doing it all his life, to 4 children who are not his own and 2 of his own, and you can't tell the difference! There is no difference to him - biology doesn't count - they are all his children.

And he takes everything as it comes, he does get cranky sometimes, he's probably a bit overwhelmed, but if thats all I have to complain about I'm doing OK!
