Belting up; Bunking off; Being an antique ; )

Comment Published at 20:1720:1724 comments24 comments71 Visits71 VisitsReport

MicroMe has developed a new obsession, (to add to his list), of telling everyone to belt up. You barely get a foot inside the car, and it is, 'seatbelt Mumma, seatbelt Daddy' etc until everyone can confirm, (and prove) that their seatbelt is done up. Lucky for us that he takes it so seriously, as yesterday we got a couple of metres down the driveway, and he advised us that his belt had come undone! Speaking of belts, I managed to do his belt up on his gi yesterday well enough to keep it on for a whole session... Wonder of wonders!

As per the end of my last blog, we did keep our promise to take MicroMe to the park when he woke up from his 'little sleep'. Unfortunately by then the light was fading, so I didn't get many shots of him, (plus we were playing at the same time), however here is a little collage of us doing our thing at the park. The kids there were really nice too, and when I was up on the climbing 'thing', this little girl didn't hesitate to help MicroMe with his climbing. We are finding the local kids are really friendly and look after him very well when we take him out, which is awesome because he loves playing with 'big kids'. The week seems to have flown by; I think it has something to do with that saying, 'the older you are, the faster the days go by,' or whatever it is, I am too senile to remember such things now. Yesterday I got another step too close to becoming an Antique! This is Wikipedia's definition of it anyway: 'An antique (Latin: antiquus; old) is an old collectible item. It is collected or desirable because of its age, rarity, condition, utility, or other unique features. It is an object that represents a previous era in human society.' I will try to console myself with this, as it doesn't sound too bad LOL!

The day started well, I woke up snuggled between MaxiMe and MicroMe, (for some reason at about 2am, MicroMe woke up and insisted that he wanted me... Yay). MicroMe woke confused, and he wasn't sure if it was a 'school' day or not. I told him it was a special day where we were bunking off and doing nothing that wasn't fun. We had a shower together, and blow dried our hair, (I never usually do my hair at all). We did a fashion parade, then we went down the street to do some messages. MicroMe was very good, so he got a ride on the merry go round, before we set off for MaxiMe's work to meet him for lunch. We whipped out to NannaTerri's, then back into town and had time for a quick play at the park before Jaydee's Little Tigers class. He is going great guns, and I was a very proud Mumma, even when he snuck off the side of the mat and hid under my legs and did a poo in his nappy. (He still wears nappies when we are on excursions and at bedtime). I was having fun talking to Angus about being firemen, (well he is, I am interested in being a fire person), and I thought a cat was rubbing against my leg, looked down and there was MicroMe looking all embarrassed. We managed a quick change and he got back on the mat in time for a last run, to say thank you to his class mates, and of course to get his special treat from Sensai Laura who is very talented and absolutely lovely.

MicroMe had a great time running around with his new friends, and he seems to have respect for the training mat now, and I don't have to worry that he will run on while the next class is running. He showed some of the kids his sticker book, and showed off to the other mums a bit before we headed off for afternoon tea. As you can see, we had the creamiest, dreamiest, ice-creamiest afternoon tea at Annies Ice-Cream Parlour. It was so scrummy, NannaSylv shouted us, and MaxiMe had the same ice-cream that he used to get when he was a little boy. MicroMe fell asleep in the car on the way home, so we slipped on his jammies and popped him in bed before heading back down to the dojo. I was going to do my usual boxing class, except the boys got geared up for Karate. I was umming and aaahing, when Sempai Cory said to get on and do Karate. So, I had my first class and it was pretty awesome. The stances are weird, and lucky MaxiMe had taught me a Kata, (which we did), and I really enjoyed the 100 sit ups, (a most unusual occurance). The class was a bit longer than boxing and kickboxing usually are, however when Hanshi dropped in (after just flying in from Japan), and advised us that he had been training 11hrs per day; the extra time seemed quite insignificant.

I got some lovely pressies! I got my hair cut by MicroMe and MaxiMe's AuntieLorraine and I need to make a time for to get highlights and all that jazz... Thanks to MaxiMe and NannaSylv. I got an uber groovy Billabong scarf and matching gloves from MicroMe and UncleDrew. PapaPete replaced the broken spokes on my bike wheel, and got the wheel straightened... It took me a while to notice, I kept thinking 'why is he riding that bike inside, and why hasn't anyone told him off yet?' I cleaned up with poor NannaKate's extra funds when I was on NZ already; however MicroMe and I had a lovely chat with her and my niece Livvy yesterday, which is always a treat. NannaSylv has booked a lady in to come and give me a colour consult/makeup/skin sort of thingo, and some $$$ toward getting something to make me look preeetttty after that ; ) All in all, I am feeling rather loved up and spoiled. xox

Maybe you missed it because you don't love us no more... ; (  Maybe it was because you have a life?   N E hoo, you didn't boss me about to write it, so how would you know about it Fairy Princess?  I did have fun, I wish it was my birthday every day (minus the getting old part).  I will give him a hug, he is very cuddly right now, and he is VERY grown up!  xox

Sounds like you had a great birthday. Glad you were spoilt, enjoy the pampering. Karate sounds like hard work. 100 sit ups? You can't be an antique. I hate to think what that would make me. Keep having fun. Love that you share it. The park looks great. I do that when I take the kids to the park, act like a big monkey. It must look funny to everyone else around that I am climbing on the playground with the kids. LOL Have another good week, Lynette xx

Hi Lynette

Well it was fun, it isn't finished yet either, I still have to get highlights in my hair, and that little pampering thing is on Friday I think... Though I am tossing up whether to drive back to Sydney for a night game of rugby instead.

The karate is very cool, I have no technique or skill, but I enjoy the excercise.  Kickboxing is where it's at for fun factor though ; )   The park is fun, it is good for parents to play with their kids when they can, not just sit and watch. xox

Thank you Annie!

We do try to have fun I guess... Most of the good things in life are fun, and I sure like doing stuff and thinking to myself, 'this is living'.  Whatever it is that you like to do, make time for it and do it!

I did have a nice birthday, which is good, because at my age, it is usually something to forget!  LOL xox

Hope you had the most wonderful of birthdays.  You are no where near being antique...cuz I'm not and my birthday is just around the corner...

You all really do look so very happy and healthy.  With all this exercise you are doing Lui, you must be one hot mamma!

You need to come to Perth and show me your hot bod...

We do have fun at the park, and I was a sook, Stephen hung off the top with no hands, and I hung upside down with hands... Next time no hands for sure!

That ice-cream is well worth the trip!  Don't worry I will bring some up after footy season. ; )

LOL, I wouldn't worry too much about that, it would be more likely a broken neck that resulted... So I won't fall!

The ice-cream will be fine, if it is a bit soft, we can whip it up a bit and while it is refreezing, I will relax on your lovely porch with a glass of strawberry champers ; ) xox

Hello Mother Nature!

Yes, well it was a pretty relaxed kind of day, and it was very nice indeed.  MicroMe gave me a lovely card the next morning too, as he fell asleep before he could give it to me.  He drew lovely pictures in it, and helped NannaSylv write the message, as well as picking out some stickers for me from his little cache.  I plan to have the happiest of years, same as you xox

You know i'm already on to ya!  Seriously, i'm glad you were spoilt and that's the way it should be!  Sorry i missed it yesterday, apart from the fact you were keeping it silent, i was out and about playing pool at the Brewhouse.

I like the park photos, how do you do them in a block like that?  They look groovy.  That ice-cream sure looks yummo too!

Happy Birthday Chickie Babe ....XX

Yeah on the right track, but off the beaten path kiwi... Drunken monkey in the middle of the day at the brew house pool sharking people out of their hard earned dosh were you? I'd have flown up for the day to do that!

The ice-cream was yummy, banana is my favourite, and if you have ever made homemade banana ice-cream with real banana's, that is what it tastes like.  MicroMe had coconut ice, you know, that old fashioned boiled sweet thing?  The ice-cream was exactly like it, I kept pinching his and he was getting mad at me, so I gave him some flake.

Download picasa2 it is a free photo manager / basic editing system from google.  You can organise and store all of your existing photos, as well as pick photos to put in a photo tray and resize for email /  uploading on sites like this etc.  (You email direct from the program instead of uploading emails etc).  You can also make collages, and this is one of the options they offer.  They also have web storage and all that jazz.

NO!  It was from 5.30 - 8.30, was i was daytime as per usual!

My bil did some real cool mtv type music video with some photos from their visit - have a look here at  Animoto but i didn't save them to my computer and they seem to have gone off the site now...technically challenged that i am.

That ice cream sounds delectable, lucky you!  Can you post me some?!

Yes of course I can post you some... Why don't I send some white bait and bluff oysters along with it.  (I have actually heard of someone attempting to post them to the UK, and it arrived - GROSS).

I will check it out after I make dinner... I am hoping to dispatch MicroMe into bed by 6.15 so I can get down to kickboxing.  Cory trained the poor Little Tigers really hard today, and MicroMe is tired.  He got his normal treat, and he also got a lollipop for being the most improved in the class... Woohoo (I didn't even know they had most improved).  Barney Bear was there all dressed up in Thomas the Tank Engine gear watching - he is very motivating.
