Me and My Family

Me and my family
Me and my family

Hi there everyone

My name is Andrea, i am 27 years old and i live about an hr out of Brisbane (Australia). I have a beautiful lil family consisting of my partner Allan and my son Connor, who is 5 and a half yrs old. I am currently in the process of TTC.

I suffer from PCOS and  this is making the whole process very hard. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 19 and knew it was going to be an up hill battle to have children. I have multiple cysts covering each of my ovaries, the biggest measuring 2cm. I went off the pill 2 mths ago and yet to have a period, which is not unusal for me (maybe get a period once or twice a year if i'm lucky).

I had to go onto fertility drugs (Clomid) to conceive my first child. I was very lucky and it only took a mth. Though the Dr now seems to think that it was the use of clomid that has caused the 2cm cyst on my ovary, which is one of the effects that clomid has on people who suffer from PCOS.

In my spare time i like to spend time with my family and friends, scrapbook and shop (hehe).

Anyway i hope to chat to ya soon

The waiting game

Comment Published at 00:0600:061 comments1 comments10 Visits10 VisitsReport

Well i went to the gyno on Thurs and she wants to induce a period and then start me on Clomid next mth. So first things first i have to make sure that i'm not pregnant or going to be pregnant before i start on the medication. I though the idea of me being pregnant without help was a laugh. Anyway she told me to do a few days of opk testing then in a couple of wks do a preg test and if i comes up neg then we can start the process.

Well i came home and at 5.30pm i did a opk test and it came up positive!! I know opk's don't really work on women with pcos but the previous times i tested with them they have came up negative, so i might be one of the lucky ones that the tests work on. Any way i will wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

To use herbal treatments, or not? That is the question.

Comment Published at 23:2023:200 comments0 comments30 Visits30 VisitsReport

Since my partner and i decided to try and conceive i have been looking into herbal treatments. And oh my god there is so many people, organisations etc out there trying to sell you different treatments and remedies. I have read up on Ovulex (but i didn't really want to get something like that from overseas), FertilAid (i think that comes from overseas too) and online naturopaths (don't know really what your buying). In the end i was so confused i decided to go to my local Health Food and Supplement store. There i talked to a really nice women that said i should try "Health Fusion" Vitex and can also use "Health Fusion" Womens Balance. She said that the Vitex helps women with PCOS (which i have) and both the herbal treatments help to balance the hormones. They're also Australian madeI then went through all the ingrediants on both bottles and looked the different s herbs up on the net. It seems like the herbs could help and i hope they does.

I go back to the specialist next mth and would like start getting my hormones and cysts managed. If this treatments helps i might not have to go on Clomid again, fingers crossed anyway!
