You've got to pay to play

This post is from from my other blog here

Pain is the price I'm paying for yesterday's fun and games. I have to admit that it was fun while it lasted.  Yesterday after dinner the whole family played basketball, girls against the boys.  We were having a blast, and I was enjoying it immensely but unfortunately that ended in screaming and crying as the youngest went down hard on the blacktop and skinned his knees.  We recovered nicely and went on a walk around the block and then ate ice cream.   My favorite and the one we always get is Bryers all natural neopolitan.  I had two servings as ...

Back for more Tae Bo

by LuvmykidsComment Published at 11:5411:540 comments0 comments0 Visits0 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

Today I went back for more Tae Bo.  This time it was the advanced Tae Bo workout.  I gotta say it.  Walking is great, and so is going to the gym.  But Billy Blanks' Tae Bo is for real.  I was sweating and hurting.  What a work out.  I'm making a commitment to do 8 minute abs every single day and to do the Tae Bo workout at least 3 times per week.  What do I like about the Tae Bo workout?  You are moving every body part in ways that you just don't normally move them unless you ...

Fitness Video Day

by LuvmykidsComment Published at 11:3311:330 comments0 comments1 Visits1 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

Saturday and it's time to dust off those old fitness videos, pop them in, and follow along.  I started off with 8 minute abs.  I don't care what you say, that is still one of the best ab workouts... Ahhh it's burning.  Next I'm gonna get into some Tae Bo.  This morning my kids asked me to make pancakes and well, I had three myself, so Tae Bo as punishment...

OK, just got my ass kicked by Billy Blanks and all I got to say is this.  When I'm his age, if I look half as good as he ...

Gurunath comes to town

This post is from from my other blog here

For the past several weeks I have traded my morning meditation for a brisk walk in an attempt to strip a few more pounds of fat from my body.  When there is some awareness  I also use the walk as an opportunity to observe the mind in action.  I can tell you that this can not replace seated meditation, at least at my level, as there are too many opportunities for distraction.  So moving forward I am making a commitment to wake up earlier for meditation prior to the walk.  A timely commitment, as my meditation teacher, has arrived from ...

Weight Loss Log

This post is from from my other blog here

I'm starting the week with a day off.  From the office that is.  Mondays are my days home with the Kids.

Morning exercise - 1 hour fast pace walk.  At one point I tried to run but I was wearing jeans and they started to fall off.  Size 32 waist had me going for the hip hop look.

Weight this morning 176.8 - Body fat reading 9.0% - That is really good for a morning reading, my best readings are always at night after being fully hyrdated.

Breakfast today will consist of a bowl of oatmeal, blueberries, and raisins, ...

It's the weekend....

This post is from from my other blog here

Time to let loose and live a little.  Just got back from the Pub where I had a couple pints of oatmeal stout, my favorite brew.  I shared a plate of beer battered onion rings, a plate of buffalo chicken wings, and a burger and parmesan fries with my very good friend R.K.  That was a lot of calories but up until that point I was eating light and I had already gone for two 40 minute walks and swam a couple laps in the pool.  I'll try and fit in another one or two walks and some ...

Legs

by LuvmykidsComment Published at 10:4910:490 comments0 comments0 Visits0 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

I do not look forward to my leg workout.  Why? Because it's painful.  Its important to have muscular legs as they are the biggest calorie burning muscles in the body.  The more muscular your legs are the leaner you will be. Here is what my workout looked like yesterday:

Leg Extensions:   100lbs x 12 reps, 110lbs x 15 reps, 120 lbs x 12 reps  Basically I tried to do as many as I could.  At the top of the extension I would hold and squeeze for a count of 3 and then lower it for a count of 3.  It hurts enough that you ...

It's Not Easy Being Thin

by LuvmykidsComment Published at 06:5406:540 comments0 comments0 Visits0 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

In a post I read yesterday a woman had given up on "counting calories" and her "restrictive diet".  She said she was sick of it and having just read a book on intuitive eating she was embarking on a new path.  I can hear the warning buzzer already.  Danger...Danger...waist line growing, hips growing.  Danger...Danger... obesity straight ahead.  People I got news for you.  It aint easy being thin.  Guess what? You have to keep track of what your eating, if not by calories then by some other means.  Portions, meals, something so that you can tell when you've ...
