| Milan in hospital |
Hi, I'm Nicole and I am a first time mum. I live in Melbourne, Australia and have been happily married for over 6 years to a wonderful man, and my best friend, Carlo.
We have a beautiful little boy, Milan.
My pregnancy was a little unexpected. I remember it was in May 2006, on a night out to dinner with a few close friends when I found out. After much discussion, and denial on my part, a friend convinced me to take the test. It was the night that changed my life, and I love it!
Prior to starting our family, my husband and I worked in London for 2.5years so that we could travel around Europe.
I enjoy photography, going for long walks and bike riding. Actually I have not been bike riding since the second trimester of my pregnancy. I look forward to riding with Milan on the back of my bike.
gth fr ertcvv rfgF d That was Milan sharing his input too!
As a new mummy, I look forward to reading your stories and advice, and one day offer mine.
Nicole and Milan too!

Yesterday, Milan finally said "mum." He would call me puppy or muppy, but he finally got it. It is so cute to hear.
We did a quick grocery shop this morning. It's amazing how many old men and women stop to talk and admire Milan.
We bought Milan his first pair of shoes 2 days ago. He is slowly getting used to them.
We are getting ready for his first birthday. I am making him a cake train. I am doing a practise run at the moment. I have a cake baking in the oven. I'll decorate it to see what it turns out like. I can't beleive how quick the time has passed. |

Milan has been crawling properly now for a good couple of weeks. As opposed to commando crawling. He also saids the words 'puppy", 'turtle', 'bear', 'daddy', 'papa'.... but no 'mummy'!! I think he also refers to me as 'puppy' or 'papa'
He also baby signs 'ball'. It's not quite right, but we know what he means. We are trying to teach him 'water' and 'milk'
For a good couple of weeks he has been pulling himself up so he is standing by the couch or our tv cabinet and he goes up and down, trying to reach whatever we have on display such as remote contols and photos. |

It's been a long time since I have been on Minti.
Since the last time, I was on, Milan has developed so quickly. He is almost 9 months now. For about 2 weeks now he has been crawling forward (commando style).
Yesterday he worked out how to open and close draws.
He mimics sounds. I ask him 'what noise does a puppy make?' and he makes a 'wu' sound.
He clicks his tongue to mimic the clock. He makes funny noises with his mouth to copy his dad. He plays peek a boo. He is so gorgeous. He is at a really fun age.
It is so amazing how quickly he is developing.
He eats almost everything. I give him toast to feed himself. So far he is a very good eater, he is delight to feed. He throws his plate on the floor but I guess it is all part of it. Mummy will just pick it up again.
Hopefully he doesn't become a fussy eater when he's older. And hopefully he has mum's great appetite. |

My mum was over today, and we made Milan some homemade chicken soup. We boiled a 'maryland' with carrot, potato and celery. After removing chicken pieces from the bone, we mixed it in the blender. It was also the first time intoducing him to celery. I added some rice cereal in his serving as it was very brothy. That was for lunch.
For dinner I just added a portion of pumpkin to it, to change the flavour.
Homemade chicken soup was one of my favourite dishes growing up, and still is to this day.
Since writing last, I have also introduced Milan to cauliflower, which was also a hit!!
Milan has started clapping his hands, too! He is developing so quick. He'll be 1 before I know it. It's amazing how quick the time passes!! |
