Yes, I did the same. I live in the UK now, but we still remember - and since my brother died a couple of years ago E has been very interested in remembering him and in what the different 'remembrance days' mean. Here in the UK it is in November, so it is something we frequently seem to discuss with different occasions occuring.
The amazing thing is that each time it means something more to her and taking her to see Ground Zero and other memorials when we were in New York over Easter was more special because of this increasing awareness.
'Lest we forget' may our children also always remember and cherish the freedom that these brave men and women fought so hard for.
