Hello,
My name is Mandy. I am from Sydney Australia but you may notice a little Kenyan flag on my page and that’s because right now that’s where we live. I am married to a wonderful man named Eddie and we have two little girls who are our pride and joy. Jasmine who is 2.5yrs and Jaida who is only 5 months. Eddie and I met in Sydney . Eddie is Kenyan and was studying Aviation in Australia when we met. Now due to a career opportunity for Eddie, we are living in Kenya. We have been here for the past 5 years.
We visit Australia annually to cure my bouts of home sickness that pop up from time to time. It is hard to be away from home, especially when you have children. I would love my family to have more contact with them and for the girls to grow up with their little cousins. Kenya also has its advantages, so we try to do out best to manage somewhere in between.
Jasmine has just started Kindy (Pre-K, as it is called here) at an International Montessori School. It is 3 mornings a week, which i think it plenty at such a young age. She was getting so bored at home. I was worried about how she would go but it seemed the only one with the separation anxiety was me! I hid out in the car park for the first 2 weeks just incase she needed me... she didn’t!
Now that Jaida is awake, ill have to fill you in on the rest of our story later!
I was introduced to Minit by my close friend Debbie. Thanks girl, ill check it out! |

Today was Jazzy 1st Sports and Icecream Day. I was soooo cute. She came first in the Bean Bag Race hahah i was so proud, and Daddy got every moment on Video as did most other Parents! It was a really nice Day, from 9.30-12.30 which was just the right length of time for the little ones. They did their Moneynasitx Routines, Races and Tug-o-War which of course there was also the Parents turn and the Mums beat the Dads which we all got a laugh out of!
At the end each child was given a medal and a CD of photos taken of your child at school which i thought was a really nice touch. The teacher had taken photos randomly of each child throughout the term and they were put on a CD for us. After the medals where given out, there were table set up for the kids (parents) to make icecream sundaes. It was really well organised and both Kids and Parents had a ball! |

Yesterday i went to an Iranian Exhabition in down town Nairobi. It was an exhabition of products form Iran. They were also for sale. i have to say one thing i love about living here is i have had alot of opportunities to mix and meet with all kinds of nationalities from all kinds of backgrounds. i wouldnt have such an opportunity at home. I love it, it broadens your mind and you learn alot about our world. It is a great for my girls to know such a wide variety of people, i want them to learn compassion for all kinds of people. I think we need to encourage this in out world today. |

Today we went to Jazzy Hannahs (Jazzys friend) house for a play date. Her other little friend Tasha was there also. So cute to see the little girls play together. Hannahs mum was very prepared for them, with shapes cut out for sticking and painting as well as a million different glitter pens to be creative with. What a mess! They had a ball. I had thought Jaz was a lttle too young for this but she loved it, So it looks like i will be going shopping for glitter very soon! |

Hello,
Please bare with me as im 'very' new to Minti and still finding my way around. Actaully i have no idea what to do but im sure ill have it sorted out in no time!
Today i took my little girls to the Animal Orphanage here in Nairobi. Jaz (Jasmine) thought it was fantastic. The Animal Orphanage is Zoo of sorts, its where the KWA (Kenya Wildlife Authorities) bring orphaned, injured or victims of poaching. Its a safe haven for the animals until they can be released again. Kenya is definately the place to be if you are an animal lover like us!
