My Lord

Comment Published at 15:2715:2718 comments18 comments47 Visits47 VisitsReport

There was a terrible act of violence in the night in Toronto.  A young man, minding his own business was brutally murdered.  I have left condolences on pages for the young man, I can not imagine what his family is going through.  A sadness has over come me every time this enters my mind, and it does often.

This boy, all of 25 years was out celebrating his sisters birthday.  He was reported to be a great guy, easy going, there if you needed him , just an all around nice guy.  He was beaten by 4 young men and then purposely run over to kill him.  The police feel he had slowed the 4 by crossing the street in front of their vehicle and they felt that they should beat him down and end his life.  Brutal, less than human in their act.  Police are looking for the suv they were driving.

My son had posted on his face book page and seeing he is very vocal in pointing out what he feels I left a note there,  Condolences for the family and how could these men live with themselves knowing they had done this terrible thing.  But just now my daughter reminded me, Chris,  ... Mom you remember him?  Oh my Lord, not that this should happen to anyone but he was my son's friend and still was, they hung about together.  Chris, the gentle, curly haired,  sweet boy?  His life ended in such a cruel way, so needlessly???  My heart goes out to his family, my heart is broken.

Re: My Lord

It is such a scary world we are living in these days.  Self respect and respect for others are values that are fast being lost.  Add in alcohol and drugs, and it is indeed a lethal mix.

The saying 'only the good die young' is even truer than ever, which is too sad.  I hope the family are coming to terms with this and that the people who did it are found and sentenced to the maximum penalty.

It is incidents like this that keep motivating me to become a criminal profiler, so then I will be able to say why people commit such senseless crimes. Just give me about 10 years, and then I'll be on the hunt.

Re: My Lord

Hugs Marg! I have no idea what to say. It is happening too much now. On the news tonight about 4 people came forward to warn of groups of thugs in our northern suburbs of Perth.Last night 2 men sitting in there car at the beach set apon and bashed by 30 teens now with head injuries and in hospital. Not an isolated incident now they are saying. So scary to let your kids out or even to go out yourself anymore. What is going on? Deepest sympathy to all affected by this.

Oh Sweety, I just do not know.  I can't understand it at all and I resent these people taking their evil into others lives.  Not a world I want to know..  Sucks!

Re: My Lord

I wonder just what these young men have witnessed in life to make them so angry and heartless towards another living being?

My heart goes out to Chris's family and friends as they face this horror of horrors, to loose such a loving and cherished soul. To hear of yet another gentle soul cut down so cruelly and viciously, it makes you feel a tad dispairing of humanity at times.

My thoughts however Marg, also go out to the thugs that perpitated this crime, that they have and sadly may never have any  knowledge of real love in their sad lives, if they had they could never have done this terrible thing.

Love and Hugs. Winnie.xxxx

Re: My Lord

Oh Winnie, (see answer to Kathryn!) yes, despair, total pondering of what could possibly make  humans act that way, gang brute mentality. I worked with young people from different backgrounds and I know violence breeds violence... but is there hope when the violence is accepted and rewarded?  Gangs exist only to reward and promote and that mindless acceptance of violence, that is what we need to rage against.   People that instead of valuing life are so evil as to not regard it as sacred.   Sorry, just very sad.

Re: My Lord

This can be a cruel world that we live in sometimes I have often found myself asking why horrible things happen to beautiful souls. The only thing I can think of is without bad, there can be no good. Sometimes these things happen to such beautiful people so a great change can take place. Please don't let this young man go unheard he would want others to bring awareness to these kinds of situations xox

Re: My Lord

The degree of violence is terrible.  I was watching a special on gangs and gang mentality around the world and we can not understand the violence some people are so accustom to.  And violence escalates when like minded people get together and reinforce such ideas.  I so feel for this beautiful soul that had to face such evil.

That is dreadful news  and I can't dare to imagine how distraught his family and friends are right now.

My sympathy goes out to all who knew him and i hope those who did this will be found quickly

Re: My Lord

How very sad that one so young should be cut down in his prime by senseless and heartless thugs. This gang like mentality  is just the lowest form and gutless.

I hope they are caught and dealt with quickly and severely.

My thoughts go out to his family.

I can't understand or even pretend to have a handle on such violence.  I can only imagine it comes from how they have been raised and what they have allowed into their lives, I just don't know.

Re: My Lord

I'm so sorry to hear about yet another senseless death, and of  your own loss in it.

There are always exceptions, but you will probably be proved right - they have probably had a disfunctional childhood and are unable to comprehend the feelings of others as we do. Sad to say, there was probably alcohol or/& drugs involved too - there usually is and it would explain to me at least the high level of violence.

It just goes to show, that the roles of parents and teachers are vital in nurturing a healthy society both now and for the next generation.

Re: My Lord

Oh Kathryn, So, so senseless and so very sad.  What ever the reasons I can only think of the bigger one, why? Why, why! Isn't there some thing that should trump all the pathetic reasonings???  I am so very sick of hearing reasons why, this group, that group need special treatment, need special considerations, we all are of one family, one earth, one being and one reason...to live the best we can and why do these violent beings think that they matter the most?

Re: My Lord

Oh Marg, if we could but know why, but I think that might be too devastating for us - to see the world through the thugs eyes too?

Why do they think they matter the most - perhaps because we are all born selfish and not everyone learns as they grow that this isn't how we are meant to be - we are all meant to be in a web of relationships, interconnected, dependant, putting others before ourselves, co-operating, LOVING.

But none of us shake off the selfishness completely, so even though the badly damaged ones do the most damage, I think we all say a selfish word here and there that does damage, and we all fail to be quite as unselfish or do quite as well as we dream of doing. Which is why I'm a Christian - looking for some help from the one who knows me better than I know myself, and yet still loves me. Otherwise the hopelessness of it all would defeat me. And at the end of the day, the thugs may get excused here and now, or even never caught, but Death gets 100% eventually and I do believe that then they will have to face what they have done and their excuses will be ashes.
