There was a terrible act of violence in the night in Toronto. A young man, minding his own business was brutally murdered. I have left condolences on pages for the young man, I can not imagine what his family is going through. A sadness has over come me every time this enters my mind, and it does often.
This boy, all of 25 years was out celebrating his sisters birthday. He was reported to be a great guy, easy going, there if you needed him , just an all around nice guy. He was beaten by 4 young men and then purposely run over to kill him. The police feel he had slowed the 4 by crossing the street in front of their vehicle and they felt that they should beat him down and end his life. Brutal, less than human in their act. Police are looking for the suv they were driving.
My son had posted on his face book page and seeing he is very vocal in pointing out what he feels I left a note there, Condolences for the family and how could these men live with themselves knowing they had done this terrible thing. But just now my daughter reminded me, Chris, ... Mom you remember him? Oh my Lord, not that this should happen to anyone but he was my son's friend and still was, they hung about together. Chris, the gentle, curly haired, sweet boy? His life ended in such a cruel way, so needlessly??? My heart goes out to his family, my heart is broken. |

Re: My Lord
Oh Kathryn, So, so senseless and so very sad. What ever the reasons I can only think of the bigger one, why? Why, why! Isn't there some thing that should trump all the pathetic reasonings??? I am so very sick of hearing reasons why, this group, that group need special treatment, need special considerations, we all are of one family, one earth, one being and one reason...to live the best we can and why do these violent beings think that they matter the most?

Re: My Lord
Oh Marg, if we could but know why, but I think that might be too devastating for us - to see the world through the thugs eyes too?
Why do they think they matter the most - perhaps because we are all born selfish and not everyone learns as they grow that this isn't how we are meant to be - we are all meant to be in a web of relationships, interconnected, dependant, putting others before ourselves, co-operating, LOVING.
But none of us shake off the selfishness completely, so even though the badly damaged ones do the most damage, I think we all say a selfish word here and there that does damage, and we all fail to be quite as unselfish or do quite as well as we dream of doing. Which is why I'm a Christian - looking for some help from the one who knows me better than I know myself, and yet still loves me. Otherwise the hopelessness of it all would defeat me. And at the end of the day, the thugs may get excused here and now, or even never caught, but Death gets 100% eventually and I do believe that then they will have to face what they have done and their excuses will be ashes.
