I Have A Plan

Comment Published at 20:3620:3630 comments30 comments42 Visits42 VisitsReport

Yes.I have thought of a plan!  It should have come right to mind but it didn't.  Now all is clear.  Tomorrow, when it is light, cause to head out in the dark is just plain crazy, I will head to the side yard.  With shovel in hand I will dig out a nice yard or two patch.   Not that I miss shovelling the snow falls, well  actually I  do,Jess got one and we didn't, but I need to clear a bit where the robins always like to be.  There has been a robin close and that is driving me crazy!!   Sort of explains the shovel in the side yard plan, sort of!!!  LOL!!!   Here in Canada after a long and heavily snowed winter,we see the first robin as a sign of spring.  Now usually that would be a matter of looking at the calendar and knowing spring was a week away.  But that isn't the case this year.    We still have tons of snow and I figure that spring has to come,or at least look like it's coming because Steve and Janice can't arrive to winter conditions, something about Steve's knees???   Puzzling really but seems he thinks the knees might suffer if they have to land in banks of snow.   So to lay claim to knowledge of spring really coming one must be able to say... yes! I saw a robin!   I,at the moment, can say yes I heard a robin but that does nothing to assure the arrival of spring.  Hence the plan!!!   The robin must be at a feeder because the area is either cleared sidewalks or paved roads the rest is snow!!!   I always love to see the first robin, the male all dark and beautiful with their full red breasts.  I bugged Kathryn and being the wonderful Mother she is provided me with the info!!!  Aren't Mother's great???  They see the need and fullfill it selflessly!   Brit robins are different than ours, smaller with red and white on their breasts.   So I think if I clear an area and the sun heats the bare ground the earth and worms will attract the birds and I will sucessfully be able to say I saw a robin and start spring here. A powerful position to have but who ever has been seeing that robin has not announced it or spring would be starting.  I must be sucessful in order to assure Steve that the Canada leg of the trip will be worth it!!!  Without snow as high as the ....dare I say it??? Knees!!!

Re: I Have A Plan

I love the plan! You are sooo funny! Perhaps you could help Nature a bit more and buy some fishing worms and sprinkle them over the ground, to give the Robins a really good incentive to turn up?!

Spring, oh dear, autumn here! lol.  I would love to be in snow one day, but still havent' found the winning lotto numbers yet, so will have to wait.

It is such a joy when the birds come into the yard.  Great sense of everything being well in the world because they place a lot of trust in us.

Re: I Have A Plan

It is fun! I was having a snow ball fight with dog, good cause he can't throw them at me,and he charges me when I hit him!  He understands the game and turns it into tag!! He is fun but he is a dog that unfortunately  responds to only Hubby and I. He doesn't bother the rabbit though! We could have fun snow jumping!  Trick is to get up and not wreck your imprint!!

Re: I Have A Plan

Shovelling snow?  Sounds too cold for me!  I'm from a cold climate orginially , but it  would only snow in the City on the odd occasion - which of course i loved because we would get a day off school!  Now days i live in them warmth and i don't know if i could go back to the cold, my legs would ache when they got to cold but i suppose now i know the leg warmer trick.....

Haaa, haaa, leg warmers and fetish boots...Jess says so!!! LOL!! I love the cold,I find it makes you feel so alive were the heat drags you out. Snow days are a huge hit with kiddies here and there have been quite a few this year! Double good,no school and snow to play in!!

Re: I Have A Plan

Haaa, haaa,I knew by the first two words that your wild little Hubby had taken control of your avatar!!!  ...I tend to read from the bottom up!  Thanks for the merry tunes and I love the bird!!  It must be amazing to live with your birds so close!  My rabbit is still here but now he does not allow me close, I fear someone tried to grab him. I just have always let him be and he hopped around my feet without fear. Poor little guy. If I talk to him he calms down when he sees me but hops through the fence if I get a foot or two away, never use to react like that, kinda sad! :(  but  at least he still looks healthy!

Re: I Have A Plan

I have a sense of increasing levity and disrespect for that part of my body which demands quite the opposite response !    I can only hope that Canadian robins take more seriously the needs of their warm bloodied Aussie visitors and greet their arrival with a true spring fanfare. Please do no assume that these knees are a weak and feeble appendage, unable to fend for themselves in a hostile environment. Remember that 4 short years ago they took yours truly to Everest base camp and returned in impeccable condition.  I can understand that, as the arrival time gets closer, the anticipation level will heighten and so as not to disappoint the waiting throngs, I have decided that they will make their appearance at Oshawa railway station, utterly naked and in all their glory !   No hiding behind kneepads/ guards/ warmers/leggings etc. they will make a triumphal and unprotected arrival which surely will impress the waiting  polar bears and perhaps, even a spring robin !

So that is my Plan !    Steve

Re: I Have A Plan

uh ha,well the proof will be in the seeing!!! I shall ask the Minti Ladies on how you rank knees as I have never thought of them as anything other than a clever way to bend the leg. I understand your  willingness to arrive with exposed knees as you are arriving at night. Spare the people of Oshawa the total shock if the knees have faultered at all during the crossing of Canada. Without a functional and comparitive point system we can not..in all fairness ..rate the knees. Plus I feel the need to ask Janice's premission to gaze on the knees. I think I'd much rather just advert the sight line. So...yes!!! Pants are great inventions!!! Protect you from the breezes and all!!! Heee, heeee plus who knew you read my blogs!!!  Thought I'd get away with this!!!  LOL!!! Haaa, haaaa!!! Where are those robins??????

Re: I Have A Plan

I am beginning to get the feeling that the inhabitants of Oshawa are not too high up in the ' permissive society field"   So much so that I think that I should retract my offer to arrive with exposed kees and take your hint that pants are good.  I really think that you are not up for this experience, so will save your blushes and arrive with everything fully covered. I can console myself with the certain knowledge that my Sydney fans will be out in force to welcome home the "Knees" at the end of their Canadian odysey.  I will advise them accordingly. Your traumatic loss, will be their rapturous gain.

Re: I Have A Plan

Oh Steve!!! I feel you have the need to build your fan base. I can understand that. I'm sure after a while the "WOW" factor has died down in Australia and you feel the need to thrill a whole new country. Geeesss...and here I throw a damper on it all and suggest pants cover the knees. Well if you really need the knees to roam free than free they should be. I do hope Oshawa is ready for this. News coverage might be tough cause I think they will be a sleep when you arrive and it might take more than knees to get a photographer out...not suggesting exposure of anything else, got to be clear on that. If the knees can't gander any coverage on their own then no sense going for shock value!  Please check with Janice as I feel she is still puzzled over the connection you have with fame and the knees and we don't want to turn a quiet arrival into a three ring circus!  Take care Steve and work on getting the knees into top shape...for the sake of all Canadians.

Re: I Have A Plan

YEAH SPRING IS COMING>.. :)

I understand about the knees...  During the winter time my knees with the cold really are not to kind to the rest of the body.. They ache.. Some would say arthritis.. I'd say someone may be right, but never got it looked at... Anyway they don't always hurt as I usually keep them nice and warm (pair of leggings under the jeans shhhh my secret...)

As for the winter conditions, just explain that it will actually be warmer in May but the snow might take a bit of time to melt as there is such a big pile of it... :) Tell them to bring their gumboots.... :)

Tell me if you see any more sparrows.. :) I think I will get the bird feeder out, I have one. In fact I have had it for a couple of years now but you know it has been sitting in the garage for so long... :)

Re: I Have A Plan

Now why???? would any one have gum in their boots?  Yes,I think your plan is great. Plus you'll get more birds to your feeder if it's outside. The birds that know how to get into the garage dine out!
