lol this brings back memories of living at home..........back then we had not one but two lounge rooms, one for guests and the other for us kids. By no means were we allowed to sit in there unless we had visitors!!! and even then we werent allowed to eat in there.....we could mix in with but had to eat in the other room lol lol ......well at least we got the tv!!!!

We sisters look back and laugh about it from time to time especially as now due to all of us kids leaving the nest the family home as been  rearranged and the grandkids are more then welcomed to eat and play in there!!whats up with that??lol lol

So there you have it, us sisters lived in a house with one 'real fake'(no oxymoron intended)room and we survived it okay and were left with warm fuzzzy memories

Don't worry about the fake house LOL LOL I'm sure Janice will only notice the genuine Marg!!!

As long as people don't have to figure out where to take their next step as there are things all over the floor, it should be fine.

I like the Fake House.....just for a moment or two anyway.   We love our friends and guests so we like to put a bit of effort into making our house a home when they come to visit.  That is all, just to show them we do give a hoot!  I'm not anal by any means but it is nice to run the vaccum over the floor, and make sure they have somewhere to sit once they arrive, and who wants to look at a grotty toilet?!?!

A friend one said to me that if someone's house is messy she thinks they are just too busy and have a full life - but you could also say cluttered house cluttered mind or if you want something done give it too a busy person to do!!  The debate goes on....lol....

Just checking in from the Colombia Icefield Centre on route from Bannf to jasper. Scenery is absolutely awesome. Will be in Jasper tonight and untill we leave on the Via on Wed. Not long to go. I know the dilemma Marg! Everytime I know visitors are going to come I run around madly cleaning or otherwise I don't know why you feel you have to apologise for the mess if they roll up unannounced. Of course I don't notice other people messes unless it was extremely bad to the point that you were worried about the cup you are drinking from! LOL As long as the basics are done, I am sure they are not looking at pristine conditions. I can't see Janice putting on the white glove and running it on top of the fridge etc. LOL Do what you have to, and let the rest fall into place! Have a great time with Jess, Janice and Steve over! I am so very much in the same boat as you.  I don't really clean, dust, etc. unless people are coming over.  I try to vacuum regularly since Nathaniel is all over the place now, but it's hard to get everything done.  My house can tidy up in a matter of minutes, but the real clean, well, that's another matter.  I don't think anyone is offended if the house isn't perfect, but no one wants to see someone else's dirt, so I clean up.

Hey Marg - I don't think Janice will even notice the house!  Do a quick tidy and vaccuum and the place will look fine!  I'm often amazed how much I can get done in a short time when I have to.  Seriously, go to the cottage and help your son out - I'm sure that's far more important!  and time out at the cottage is always good!

Hey Marg.  I tell you what.  Janice Steve and Jess are not coming to see your house.  They are coming to see you.  I doubt they would give two hoots about it.  You could always pay someone to do it!  If you were really stressing about choosing between the two.

If your son needs you to go up to the cottage you could do that.  I am sure they would understand.

when i have a party i get so fussed i want everything clean

the trouble is that after working cleaning and cooking i cant enjoy my guests to the fullest because im so tired that my chirpy side isnt as chirpy any more

besides i was once told by a wise lady why bother mopping its only going to get dirty again and then you have to mop it after again.

i listened to her about the mopping especially when you have thirty people over  now i leave the mopping til after the party

My dear friend, GO TO THE COTTAGE, it will do you the world of good....yeah i know NAG!, NAG! it is for you that i am coming not for a fake house and you you know me well enough to know how i feel about animals....and i know you are experiencing the same feelings  as i...the time is flying by now, but i still find it hard to believe that my home coming is really going to happen  .

Gee i am a sook, just have to read all the beautiful coments from all of our loving friends and the tears  are flowing & gee Banff have NO more kleenex to buy, what is one to do?????

Try to ring you a couple of times yesterday, sorry i missed making contact....but got to talk to Jess & Ally last night....that Jess is quick, she caught me as soon as i logged onto MSN, haha! the hotel is loving me cashing in for $2 coins.

I like houses that are lived in. Not ones where you are afraid to put your coffee cup down in case it is the wrong place. Enjoy yourself, they are all coming to see you. I know I wouldn't travel all that way just to see a house.

Besides which, a showcase is a house -0- lived in is a home!

Oh  dear, no need to worry they are coming to see you, not your house.. And as much as its nice to have a clean house, it does not stay like that for 2 long....

Im with Arna - I dont think Janice will notice a thing except YOU! But I know what you mean - it's nice to make an effort but it can be an impossible effort trying to turn normal into show home. I remember spending 4 hours cleaning when my parents were driving here one time (pre-kids) and then my mum walks in and says "it's a shame you dont get any time to clean!" I wished I had done something more fun with those 4 hours, or at least taken a before and after photo! So, concentrate on the guests, on the food, on the sleep beforehand, and Im sure none of your guests will be so shallow as to object to the dust bunnies!

Fake house... :) You make me laugh...   We are coming to see you not your house...

Dog hair, well I have a dog, and I have a two year old son. And yes the dog makes more of a mess then my son.  I am always trying to put on a fake house, but forget about it... :) It never happens.. Fake turns to real with in minutes after I let my lot back in the house.

Please don't make any effort for me. Go see the project.   I own a defluffer thing that takes dog hair off my clothes.  And you know what love me love my dog.. :) 

Seriously my friend, I am coming to see you. Not your house. If it helps I'll wear holes in my jeans, or I could put my fake jeans on the ones with out holes. Holes are more comfortable though. :)

And as Arna says, after speaking to Janice last night I don't think she will notice the dog hair.. :)

And I promise if you come visit my house one day, you are friend enough for me to leave it the way it is..  Ok I'll pick up a few things, but the dog hair stays.. :)

Houses that look as though they have come from a magazine are overrated.  Yeah, pretty to look at, but they have no spirit and seem to be cold.

Cleaning is something that should only be done when you are in a bad mood, or when the grime gets so much even the cockroaches are leaving! lol.  I'm not very domestic but my home is lived in and full of character, just mind the blocks and toys! lol.

I think Janice will be so overwhelmed just to see you face to face that she wouldn't notice if your house was the local tip!  The excitement between you both is catching! lol.

Just make sure there are no undies hanging around and the house will be fine!
