I Don't Want To

Comment Published at 06:0506:0518 comments18 comments44 Visits44 VisitsReport

I don't want to do nuthin'.  Nuthin' at all...I want to sit. I am tired out.  Came home after depressing shopping trip in that I spent everything and still got not everything!  Pooo, big huge poooo.  But as we pulled in our older neighbour needed a hand as she had called for a garbage pick up.  This costs 25 dollars. Our government rather than help us little wee taxpayers finds every way possible to charge, charge, charge and return on a sliding scale of zero to nothing.  Heee, heeee,  I sound grouchy!!!  So we helped her clean her garage.  What she didn't know is that Hubby and I had been on the go all day and had eatten nothing.   The groceries were holding our supper and I could have eatten it raw!  Really...that hungry!  So the garage was a mess, animals had dragged garbage under and over everything and geeesss did it stink!   Piles of stuff where everywhere as she is too proud to ask for help but she knows me so that's good!  Friends can see other friends garbage.  Of course Hubby desided that good ribbing was in order and he let loose!  Thank heaven's this lovely woman has a sense of humour and actually likes Hubby!   I asked if there was any way she could make him politically correct.  She thought he would totally lose his charm if that happened.  So we worked on until outside and the garage had all the garbage moved to the front ready for the pick up.   She had an old vacumm that was to be thrown as it didn't work and I asked for it as it was the same model as my old one.  So home we came and started to get FOOD!   Daughter came to the door!!!  Yay!!!  Make her cook as Hubby bar-be-qued and I switched out pieces to make one working vacumm!!!  I'd much rather do that than cook.  What a neat evening!!!  Hubby fiberglassed the hole in the vacumm body and I worked at repairing the powerhead and canister and the vacumm is great!  Visit with daughter was great!  And it was great helping out a friend!   And we got to eat!

Re: I Don't Want To

Glad you helped your friend and that she asked for help!  I'm impressed you saved your vaccuum cleaner - well done Marg!  I was thinking earlier today about tools and how people used to fix them and sharpen them, whereas now we just chuck and you've proved me wrong...

Re: I Don't Want To

Poverty...poverty is a great innovator!  LOL!!   We have always fixed whatever we could.  I do also have strong feelings that we throw out too much.  Plus I really have this thing about used stuff,I would rather use tables and such that have a history!  Weird i know but i love the old stuff!

I agree with your neighbour can't change hubby, just wouldn't be the same he comes with warts and all, but so lovable!

Glad you could help your neighbour with her garage clean up, I'm sure she appreicated the help but I do hope you are resting as I feel this chore has drained you.

Love ya xxxxx

Re: I Don't Want To

oh marg  you certainly love thy neighbour

how considerate and thats why you were rewarded with the vacuum cleaner  god works in mysterious ways

it all fell into place and one working vacuum well done on your perserverence and being such a handy woman and hubby able to fibreglass the hole that is brilliant in my books.

so true someones trash is someone elses treasure

so good to see when we are living in a society that is so quick to throw out things when we will soon have a shortage of so many materials  recycling has great benefits

have a great day

Re: I Don't Want To

LOL!!  Yes, I am old school,if it broke it can be fixed...usually!  I have fixed  dishwashers, dryers, ovens, fridges,furnaces...well I feel that replacing a piece is more economical than anything else.  Hubby keeps things running and is a marvel with things. And not being able to afford to replace helps motivate you to repair!  LOL!!!   My vacumm had been repaired and repaired so now it is great having this with remeberances of the old one! LOL!!  Isn't it funny how things work out?

Re: I Don't Want To

Well if you know hubby, sense of humour and appreciation of his "say what he happens to be thinking at that moment"  (ask Jess!!!) is totally needed!! It was great to know we had helped her,she was going down the street to hire the local handyman if we didn't show up but she didn't really want him in her garage!  Haaa, haaa, good to know our evening was planned!  LOL!!
