very cool
Well not quite although I walked down to the bottom of the smallest one to see what a burial chamber looks like and it is extremely uncomfortable and very very hot.  There was literally hundreds of people filing down and up this tiny little passage and if you had any kind of claustraphobia (sp?) then you would be a gibbering mess ;)

very cool!

Wow, that must have been a sight. I imagine that seeing amazing places like this gray out life's everyday worries. How magical it is to stand in a spot where a great civilization once stood. Hopefully, it'll be there for hundreds and thousands of more years.

That looks just amazing....  You are going to have some wicked memories to tell the grandkiddies.

Yep - first I will make some kiddies before creating my tales of Pharoah adventures in Egypt for the grand-kiddies

Wonders of the World (Foto Friday)

Not sure I can share too many more photos of the seven wonders but I may have misled everyone since technically the Great Wall of China is not one of the "Seven Ancient Wonders of the World" because the list was made up in the middle-ages in Europe before Euro-people had really been much to China and it included:

the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria

the only one of these seven still standing is the Pyramids...  but I persoanlly like to think of the Great Wall as a Wonder

You can read about them here (if interested):  http://ce.eng.usf.edu/pharos/wonders/index.html

Thanks for swinging by

So you have travelled
a fair bit. I saw your Great Wall of China photo. I am so jealous, you standing in the midst of ancient history! One day I'll get there, I've just got to hope that it is not all destroyed by then!

So you have travelled
It's great to travel and to have dreams then to save for them (as I had to for Egypt) but I must admit it is not a place I would wish to go back to - very tough travelling conditions in general and we were there in the heat of summer which was amazingly challenging even for this Aussie who grew up with heat

So you have travelled
I have heard that about egypt, and also that it is almost impossible to do it with a young family unless you know someone there. Still would really love to go, maybe not in the middle of summer though.
