Code of honor reminder

Comment Published at 18:4218:427 comments7 comments99 Visits99 VisitsReport

Hi Folks

I am very grateful that I seldom have to write reminders such as this but I believe it is time everyone using the site regularly gets a little refresher on our Code of Honor first principle :

Above all else, respect others. If you see disrespectful behavior, report it, rather than further inflaming the situation. You can attack the idea/topic, but you can not attack the person.

Please let this be at the forefront of your mind whenever you are posting to the site.

In particular you should NEVER copy anything written by another member from a private forum or sent via a private minti-mail into a public part of the site.  There is a reason people keep posts or mails private and part of respecting other members is respecting this desire for privacy of posts.

Report items that breach this guideline and I would ask that senior members delete these items if they breach this guiding principle.

thanks everyone

Matt

Re: Code of honor reminder

Thanks heaps for the reminder again Matthew. It's always good to refresh the memory of the rules of minti.

Hope your lil one is doing great, and not too many sleepless nights, but kids are so worth it i think.

Re: Code of honor reminder

Yep, I'm guilty of opening my mouth at the member and not the item at times as well. I'm sure everyone has been at some point or will be one day if they haven't yet. How we word things can just come across badly as well sometimes. Being willing to admit when we are wrong and make retractions can make a difference to the way we interact with each other, as well as people being willing to forgive an outburst when someone says the wrong thing.

If we had the ability to delete or edit our own comments it would be an easier problem to rectify! HINT!

As for reminders, I think we also need to remember that the reported section is not a private area, only the members of lower status and non-members can't see in there, and thus, potentially hundreds of members can see anything we post, with more members reaching the required status all the time, so we should also be careful what we say in there as well.

Thanks Matthew.  Even I need a reminder once in a while, though not very often!  Hope things are well for your new family.
