Reporting short articles

Comment Published at 15:4815:489 comments9 comments121 Visits121 VisitsReport

Hi Folks

There seems to be a bit of a run going on reporting short-articles.

Please be aware that there is no rule regarding the length of an article and being "less than 50 words" is not in breach of any of our Terms of Service or Code of Honor.

If an article is poor quality because of it's length then please vote accordingly rather than going straight for the "report" flag.

Also many pieces of advice will "look" like a blog post BUT so long as there is a hint of advice in the article it should NOT be reported but again voted on accordingly, or it might be good to encourage the author by posting a comment "this is great but could probably serve you better as a post to your personal blog as article pages are generally used for article style writing"

I would really appreciate people taking the time to consider carefully whether reporting an article (which is often a very negative experience for the author) is really required and perhaps taking some alternative approaches.

thanks

Matt

Re: Reporting short articles

Just another thought,

I remember being asked by admin yonks ago to report articles that were only 1 or two lines as this was not what the article section was intended for . . There was also talk about reporting articles that were just answers to a Q&A . .

I am not sure but I think this was decided in the "Repost it or not group" at some stage or it may have been talk etc in another group but I do remember that AngieH was involved in this  . .

your thoughts on this would be appreciated .  . .

Cheers Kellz

i think they get the 50 words minimum from the guidelines here... but totally agree that it should not result in a report... but rather just vote it down if there is a hint of parenting advice in the "very" short advice.
