Made this Norwegian style hat (check links for pattern) in double stranded blue Courtelle 4ply.

I cast on 91sts. It can fit my 2.5 year old son though not very deep.

Made a couple more hats in micro size. Very tiny! Using baby nylon and 2mm hook.
Not sure they are as good as wool though. |

Not quite in the third trimester yet I am in the 100 day countdown with less than 100 days til due date. Today I am 26 weeks pregnant. I am sure I will go over though as usual! I think Ihave been lucky as far as still feeling comfortable and not putting on too much weight...yet!
Most people are predicting another daughter. Not sure. Isn't one enough?!!!
My daughter is doing well at school and still loves drawing very much. My big boy also loves school and is keen on learning. And though my youngest has been slow in talking he is fast becoming a chatterbox. He loves a chat! Even with strangers.
My husband's biological father has improved and is communicating though not talking as he has tubes. And they said he was finished!
The house we are living in has been sold. We have only been here a few months so its not fun. I do not look forward to moving again especially with a belly or newborn. And the rental market the way it is, we don't even feel certain about what will happen. |

We received a Rollicking Rascals in jungle print as well as burp cloth in Sesame Street.
I sent my recipient longies, Huggalugs and my first crocheted flap hat.

I made a jacket from some sock yarn knitted double. I was never going to make adult socks...

Also booties with the remnants.

Made for unborn bub in 10ply cotton.

I made I-cords for the outside ties (I did try crochet chains but not as nice) I put a button on the inner as I thought it might be less bulky for bub. |

I made this very quickly for Mum from her acrylic as she cooked us dinner.

The weeks are just flying by! I can honestly say I have enjoyed this pregnancy. I didn't think it possible. Is it because I haven't seen the doctor, I wonder? Is it because I have the responsibility to take care of myself as it should be? Is it because I have been there done that? Maybe. Probably all those reasons and also cos I have three wonderful independant kids and a helpful husband.
I know an unassisted pregnancy doesn't suit everyone but it does me. It is my choice. I feel confident in myself as a woman to take care of myself and my unborn baby. |

Another jacket to match longies for unborn bub.

Knitted in Monster Knits merino.

The buttons are interesting.

|

Five carefully chosen prints with velour inner from Pookey Pockets! I loved this nappy on Av so to have some for unborn bub, I an rapt. Great little snappi able purple newborn nappy as well.

Also won auction with an appliqued whale cover and I got the matching tee. So clever and cute!

Its so cold here in Melbourne. My youngest son has had so many colds so I have tried to tailor a fitted vest for him to help keep him warm. Its probably a little too fitted but I love the look of it. He looks so smart and cosy.

Also made a crochet hat with the remnants.

I used Jolly Jumbuck merino handdyed, Rowan kid mohair as well as a little Heritage in red.

Planning to make a fair few hats for bubs in NICU.
I am currently 24 weeks pregnant. The bub’s head circumference is about 23cm. (Born now would be a micro premie). The average newborn has a head circumference of 35-37cm.
So I want to make a few in sizes between that range.
Hopefully it will be an ongoing project as I use up all the scraps of yarn.

The first one was made with merino scraps from other projects.
The second, is with Lollipop yarn, 95% wool. Both are crocheted. |

|

This tiny soaker was made with various remnants of other projects. The yarn is Treliske organic merino which is lovely and soft and perfect for small babies. There is an interesting pattern from the pooling of the colours on the front. |

|

I made these sleep soaker sacks for the unborn bub.

This one was meant to be my first crocheted cardigan but it didn't quite work out so I knitted some rib onto it and added drawstrings and its now a sleeper sack.

This one is knitted in wonderful merino handdyed by Dyelicious. I love how it is striped in the round.
Sleep sacks are good for the newborn stage when they need more frequent nappy changes particularly at night and they have wriggly legs. |

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mummies!
Nothing exciting today. I guess its just been a rest day for me. I was feeling sleepy so fell asleep after lunch and got up wanting dinner! Not sure if I have the flu coming on, but I definitely feel a great need to sleep and rest lately. My eldest son also seems groggy though he has a cough too. Meanwhile my youngest son is full of beans and I think he was bored today. My daughter stayed with her Aunties last night.
My youngest son said to me, "Mummy...best." His vocab is till not extensive but he likes to get his point across even if it is one word at a time.

Had a few cries over the past few days. All with good reason, not just because I am pregnant.
Today we went to the hospital for a family meeting to discuss my husband's biological father's situation. He has been in ICU for 5 weeks and he is not getting better. In fact he is getting worse. There is a lot of anger and frustration due to the way things have turned out. I don't need any more reason not to trust dcotors. At least the doctor we talked to was upfront and honest with us. He has no hope for him and says we should prepare for that. His heart and kidneys are failing.
I am not sure what to think and feel except for deep sadness.I just want to have deep cuddles with all my family right now. |

Newborn cotton singlet with buttons on back. A beautiful soft and thick cotton which washes well.
This was half made last year and I finished the front and buttons last night.
Newborn size - may fit up to 3 months. Will see! |

|

I bought this kit with appliqued tee and wool to knit own shorties or whatever! I love how well it goes together.

I made the shorties in the round. I hate short rows though you can't see them. :)

I made a crocheted hat with the remainder of the yarn. I think my crocheting has improved a lot. Practice may indeed make perfect. I also made bear ears to make it very cute and suits the theme I reckon. ! |
| |
|
I finished making some longies for baby. Hand knitted with Monster Knits handdyed yarn, beautiful colours in merino.

This may be the last pair of longies I make for a while. I really want to concentrate on making tops/jumpers etc and blankets. |
| |
|

My daughter wears her new hat. I didn't like putting all the beads through!
It took a while for me to finish. The wool is nice and soft from Bendigo Woollen Mills.
I knitted up the leaves quite quickly and sewn to the top.

|

It started as a granny square. My very first. :)
Now about the right size for a pram. Made with 4ply wool in various colours some coloured by me.

|
| |
|

Rainbow shortalls finished! Made for unborn baby. I think they will fit 3 months so for Summer. Hope they fit over cloth.
I used pinched stitch panels which is a bit like cable for the legs and half of the body before decreasing. I used rainbow gradient dyed wool which I bought from Dyelicious. I also made a beret which I crocheted with much of the remainder of the yarn. |
| |
|

I crocheted a scarf and hat for my Mum as a gift for Mother's Day gift. I haven't made her anything for some time. These were both very quick using Jet wool/alpaca yarn double stranded for the hat and triple for the scarf. I am hoping that she will get a lot of use of of these and the way the weather is at the moment it may be one very cold Winter. |

Its that time again. If you don't think about any other time of the year, maybe take some time in the coming weeks to think about what you consume. Is it fair trade?
If you drink coffee, they are organising local events where you can have a fair trade coffee break. I prefer fair trade cocoa. :) What can I do?
(From the above site)
You don’t have to organise an event to be part of Fair Trade Fortnight. Below are some great ideas that you can carry out yourself that will get you and your friends and family involved.
- Bake it! During FTF08 why not add some Fairtrade ingredients to your recipes. Stores like Trade Aid / Oxfam Shop, organic health food stores and your own supermarket stock some fantastic Fairtrade ingredients!
- Taste it! Invite family and friends to your own fair trade coffee and chocolate tasting event. You can lay it out like a wine tasting event, scoring the coffee, picking your favourites and enjoying lots of chocolate! You can really make an evening of it.
- Kick it! Have a soccer, rugby or touch match using Fairtrade sports balls or substitute your teams balls for Fairtrade balls during FTF08.
- Watch it! If you can’t make it to a screening of Black Gold during the fortnight why not buy a copy from your local Trade Aid / New Internationalist and have a few friends over. Or order a copy of our free DVD resource online.
- Change it! Swap the coffee, tea and sugar in your workplace to fair trade for FTF08. If just a few people at your workplace change to fair trade products as a result, you’ll be helping farmers in the developing world to change their lives. Who knows, maybe your workplace will change to fair trade permanently!
