Boys white cotton singlet

by mcmComment Published at 18:2418:242 comments2 comments22 Visits22 VisitsReport

Another handknitted cotton singlet made from my own pattern. Very happy with it!

This one is about a size 4-5. Short on my lanky 5 year old (on the left). The armholes are too big on my 2.5 year old who wears size 3-4 tops.

My sons (5 and 2.5 years old) are about the same size though there is about a half head difference in height.

by mcmComment Published at 03:2603:260 comments0 comments8 Visits8 VisitsReport

I thought I would have a go at making a crochet jacket for Av.

Not happy with any patterns I decided to wing it!

I used Peace Fleece merino/alpaca.

Crocheted Blankie

by mcmComment Published at 00:5900:591 comments1 comments11 Visits11 VisitsReport

I have always wanted to be able to crochet a blanket for one of my babies.

This is is from 9 granny squares in Pear Tree merino with Treliske organic merino and Rowan Kid Classic for trim and edging.

A good pram or bassinet size.

Newborn longies

by mcmComment Published at 00:4700:470 comments0 comments29 Visits29 VisitsReport

I coloured the last of my Treliske organic merino with Kool Aid hoping for a unisex red and purple.

I got a very pretty pink and lilac instead.

If I don't have a girl I hope I can find a good home for these newborn longies.

SOL swap #7

by mcmComment Published at 18:3418:341 comments1 comments20 Visits20 VisitsReport

Made for SOL forum swap - icecream flaphat! Crocheted and first attempt in BFL yarn. Looks like an icecream?

Also a cotton singlet in 8ply. Loving my own pattern finally!

We received a fantastic fleece tracksuit with silver fern on the back of the zip up jacket. The pants have N Z on the feet and are padded so will be good over cloth. Very cool yet toasty and warm for bub.

For NA craft swap

by mcmComment Published at 20:2420:240 comments0 comments13 Visits13 VisitsReport

I made a pram cover for Lily (due in  Sept like my bub) as well as a little hat in the NA craft swap. It was my first attempt at an afghan so I am quite happy with the result. The granny squares are made from various wools  and the joining and shell border is in kid mohair.

The newborn hat is crocheted in pretty baby acrylic. Seen here with prem hats.

Mother's Choices

60 Minutes segment on the extreme birth  choices. When I say extreme I mean elective ceaser and unassisted water birth. I want the latter. Neither is selfish really. It is a choice for the mother.

Crochet Hats

by mcmComment Published at 22:5522:550 comments0 comments20 Visits20 VisitsReport

I love seeing how a yarn crochets up as compared to being knitted up.

Love this yarn. The colour, the softness.

This one in Noro. So much nicer to crochet than knit.

Matinee Jacket in Noro Kureyon sock yarn

by mcmComment Published at 18:0318:032 comments2 comments43 Visits43 VisitsReport

Finally finished this jacket. Based on a pattern for a matinee jacket by Patons. The Noro is probably not the best choice! But the colours look amazing. Its a Japanese yarn (wool/nylon) which I think isonly one strand so it twists a lot.

It is knitted in the round top down with short sleeves.

Icy Hat

by mcmComment Published at 20:1720:171 comments1 comments12 Visits12 VisitsReport

Based on the Norwegian Hat I used 4ply blue and 8ply white yarn knitted together. Casted on 61 sts on 5mm needles. Very happy with this effort. The icord tie may be too long though.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at Gold Class

by mcmComment Published at 19:4319:432 comments2 comments7 Visits7 VisitsReport

What a nice experience! Hubby and I went to see Indiana Jones at Gold Class. It was oh so relaxing! The chairs recline so you could so easily fall asleep! We had drinks and dips. I loved it! More expensive than the standard cinema but worthwhile.

The movie was fun too. I enjoyed it though its  more my husband's thing than mine. It was quite comical and simple. Very entertaining really!
