Swimming

This post is from from my other blog here

Sometimes Daddy takes the kids swimming. We prefer the beach but the pool is closer. We are having some warmer weather so J and I came along.

This was J's first time in the pool. He was weary at first but once in he was content.

Av has great water confidence, putting his head and face under the water, which is something the big kids still struggle to do.
The three big kids want to have swimming lessons now, just for fun. The two eldest have been to lessons through the school before.

Finger Painting

Av wanted to do some painting but we had no paintbrushes or paper!. We ended up doing dome finger and hand painting. He did his hands and a butterfly and spider.

We have no real internet access at the moment. We can use MSN but thats it. Strange but true.  ITs actually interesting using the internet cafe, the computer and access is fast but the company is not that much fun! We leave the kids at home with their Aunty so we can get more done *sigh*

Like most toddlers, J is not keen on hats. I like to make ones that can tie on so they don't just disappear.
This one is a toddler bonnet in Purple Mystery Malabrigo chunky. It fits Av very well.

Organic Bombay

This post is from from my other blog here

J has been so sweet lately, giving kisses. He also whacks me and bites. But the adorable kisses make up for it. He is very keen to walk around the house and spends a great time of the day just walking.
Unfortunately we haven't been very well at our house with a nasty bug going aroud even affecting Mama.
But I have enjoyed just hanging out with the family.

Bombay Love is a very quick pattern and cute too. I did get confused with the tie and I need to fix it on to the body better and then it will be great!
Made with Blue Sky undyed organic cotton and edged with Debbie Bliss Eco cotton.

I have been making a few small things, some for gifts.
We have been watching a new movie called 9. My daughter asked me to make a character and though it looks nothing like them, she is happy with it.

First tooth lost

by mcmComment Published at 03:3203:322 comments2 comments15 Visits15 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

My son literally lost his first tooth in the grass at the Zoo on Saturday.

He is 6 and a half.

The adult tooth has started to come through already. I saw it on the day back to school.

His eczema is not too bad at the moment though his skin is slightly dry and contact allergies are the main culprit around his mouth. He has been such a chatterbox lately, always full of amazing questions and curiousity. He was so excited to return to school, at the new campus. He was only frustrated there is no basketball court or oval

We were invited to a Thankyou function for St John volunteers at the Melbourne Zoo. It was all paid for and so much fun for the family.

We also took another cadet, my daughter's friend.

We didn't get to see many animals being late in the afternoon.

The BBQ was great and not what I expected. Good food! There was fairy floss, face painting, jumping castle, music and more.

This is the 4th shoaker I have made so I made it from memory which made the grafting in rib a learning experience.

I saw this pattern and it was similar to what I tried to make just last week, so I started it right away with scraps of organic cotton and  Sierra (wool/cotton).

I don't like.....

by mcmComment Published at 21:4921:492 comments2 comments18 Visits18 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

I don't like being busy or having schedules. Its not for me or my family. Lately we have been busy and hardly been home but I have enjoyed it. It may be a busy month too with birthday parties to go to and other events.
We had a difficult week or so after J's birthday with J not wanting to be away from me but he seems more secure now and that makes us happy. He loves co-sleeping as do I but I have had to put him with his Dad and I sleep in another bed so we can sleep properly. Otherwise he feels the need/want for feeding all night and it can be exhausting for me and for him. Hopefully this is only temporary.

We have been out and about seeing people which is good. J seems to be happier when we go out and I love to see him smile. He has been vocalising more even screaming and laughing with his brothers. There is nothing better than seeing your children smile with happiness in their eyes.

Yesterday we visited the MHCN. He weighs 9995 grams so about average for his age. He is tall though and the nurse suggested he eat more meat and potatoes! I have been weary of feeding him solids because of allergies. Baby led weaning with breastfeeding seemed sufficient. But he has been wanting more ie. watching adults eat (as well as other children namely his siblings) and wanting to share. This one is not a vegetarian either. He hasn't had any eczema or any significant health problems so I couldn't be more happy. His skin is soft and healthy and that is something I am so grateful for.

The MCHN we have is great. We have seen her a few times now and she understands I know best when it comes to my children and I really appreciate that support. She says many mothers do things the hard way and I know what she means. I was one of those mothers. The nurse asked about immunisation and I said Hmm 2 years. To which she replied that they would no longer be free. I shrugged. She suggested I get just 2 jabs now which have several vaxxes in them. I commented that that sounded scary. She said No polio is scary. Aha...She asked if we had been affected by Whooping Cough. No. Then she sounded shocked when she told me that kids who have been vaccinated for pertussis still could get it. Yes, I said. She also told me she couldn't trust doctors to give the vaccinations. She told me of one GP who gave them to a parent so she could it done in Turkey for when her baby was of age. Turkish doctor was smart and chucked it. Diane has all faith in the council to vaccinate children because they are nurses. I do not because of our experience. I was actually happy when our mchn did my daughter's. It seemed safest.

Bowling

by mcmComment Published at 21:1121:112 comments2 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

These school hoidays are going by so fast. Our kids still have another week so hope we can make it last.
The boys were excited to try bowling.

Av liked to use the12 pound bowling balls and to good effect too getting a strike at least once.
The boys, of course used the ramps to roll the ball rather than throw it.
