I made the Vintage Bonnet for a christening gift for my youngest niece. Her big sister wanted it so I told her I would make her one. Last night with the strong winds I found it hard to sleep so I crocheted. I made 3 hats. A shell hat similar to the vintage bonnet and 2 butterfly hats. One is for my daughter.
As requested by my daughter. She wanted sleeves to the elbow and something fairly simple to wear over. She is 9 but a big healthy girl wearing size 14 (sometimes the clothes are too slim) or small womens sizes. Very simple quick and effective. T was rapt with the result and here's hoping she gets lots of wear out of it. Crocheted from Cleckheaton 12ply wool.
Apart from the over pornification/sexualisation of the female characters I really enjoyed the movie. It was very funny in places and the visual effects were amazing.
I finally completed this top. I am glad I decided to do the hood, it suits J perfectly. Crocheted from Woolganics Australian organic merino.
J is now 9 months old with 4 teeth, 2 more coming through. He now stands using one hand for support. He likes to put things in his mouth which is stressful with 3 big kids who think nothing of the little things they leave around. He has started sleeping a little better (not on me half the night so much) and usually sits up in bed during the night.
My daughter and my Mum saw this movie a couple weeks ago. She came back asking me questions related to historical figures featured in the movie. My daughter was on camp on Monday-Wednesday. I thought I would take the boys on Tuesday, hubby wanted to come so our big boy went to school instead. That is, we didn't see the movie til the evening. During the day we went to the library in the hope I could find Elizabeth Zimmerman pattern. Anyway, it was an okay movie. Probably more based on American history but still interesting. We rarely go the cinema but we plan to see Transformers 2 next week.
My daughter enjoyed her camp. She told me the details of what she ate and the floor plan of her room/area!
On Monday we went into the City to check out the Morris&Sons sale. I was wanting some chunky yarns for a babywearing shawl, jacket for my daughter, Knit Pro needles and some 10ply to make something lovely for myself. I was successful on all counts. A scarf and fingerless mittens crocheted from Jo Sharp Aran Tweed (wool/cashmere/silk).
We have had a few tough days, just lack of sleep basically. Also J biting while feeding which is no fun.
Here's my pattern for 10ply singlet. Great for Summer as a tank with a favourite nappy or for extra warmth under a shirt in cold places like Melbourne.
10ply cotton with 5mm needles.

I have made a few of these but this is the first time I wrote down the pattern. I am not a designer or a pattern writer and it needs testing. Fits about an average one year old. Please note cotton tends to shrink in the wash lengthways .
Of course, I forgot to take a photo of what I sent. I had a recycled box and filled it with PUL and fabric, buttons and other sewing bits and pieces. I received my swap box today.
Beautiful colourful yarn (Aran merino from Zansthings), soap, needles and vintage patterns which I adore in a lovely rose box. Aren't I lucky?!
Oh how we love our handmade cotton singlets. Here is my latest made with 3 different types of 8ply cotton including Heirloom 8ply cotton. Usually I find the best stuff at opshops. Its hard to find the perfect twist for the texture that I like. Here's my pattern. Very basic singlet, that I have made many of, for my boys over the years. If you choose to use it let me know. It needs testing.

Seam sides and shoulders using mattress stitch. Crochet around neck edge.
This fish washcloth came out really well. Using double stranded acrylic.
My daughter was preparing for camp when she asks for facewashers. She wanted a raindrop! Here is the attempt. Basically half a fish, that looks more like a boob.
My littliest boy now has four teeth. They have all come through in the past two weeks. He has been more in need of cuddles and milk but not distressed, which is a good thing.
Another top for my growing active boy. From the Boheme pattern on Ravelry. With some modifications, I used 8ply acrylic/mohair which was surprisingly nice. I bought it at an opshop with some other yarns for $5. So even with buttons, it would have cost about $2 to make.
Finally we met my husband's brother's son. He is 4 months. He is so lovely, alert and placid. Very much like J especially at the same age. And heavy too.!
How funny that projects that should be completed rather quickly have taken me more than a couple days. Too much going on. I was wanting to get my knitting mojo back so here is what helped. Gooseberry hat for J and kindergarten scarf for Av. The hat is knit in 6ply courtelle and the scarf in that weird yarn!
Finally added a few rows to Going Green crocheted soaker shorts and a drawstring. Also Pebble knitted vest in 5ply crepe. Stretchy, so stretchy that it fits J.
My boy now has a top tooth. Just 2 have broken through and another 2 are just under the gum.
