This photo was taken back in May. We were waiting for the library to open. I think Miss looks very pensive in this photo?

How Tall....

by michelleiComment Published at 08:1408:143 comments3 comments131 Visits131 VisitsReport

I believe Miss Cheeky Chops has had another growth spurt.

I found out this morning, as I was going about my morning toileting routine. I had the door shut and all of the sudden I hear ‘mum’ and the door flew open – my response ‘I guess you found me’ lol. She then ran into my bed room and proceeded to lock her self in. I’m glad that on the outside you only need a coin to open it otherwise I think we would have had real trouble. Miss Cheeky Chops isn’t quite two yet, but she is quite tall for age.

I think that is pretty good for a first effort. I think I’ll be getting some locks put on my main doors up high.

My question is how old are kids supposed to be before they learn to open doors with round handles and then to twist the knob?

It has just clicked past midnight  in to Friday so I will get in early instead of late lol.

This is Miss Cheeky Chops getting ready to go for a swim.
She looks really impressed lol.
And yes she loved her swim and stayed in the pool for about two hours - we had to turn the spa jets off and say 'the pool is closed now'.

Fairy Gift..........

by michelleiComment Published at 07:4607:460 comments0 comments136 Visits136 VisitsReport
This was the gift the fairies left for Miss Cheeky Chops - some balloons, stickers and a bubble blower.
She was so excited to see the fairy present in the back yard lol.

She has been good today which is a big relief, apart from the 2 hours she spent screaming when I put her down for her nap :(

She is so cute as she looks up into the sky and waves bye bye to her dummy. I guess the good thing is that she remembers where her dummy went.

Thank you to everyone who dropped by and left lots of positive encouragement )insert hugging smiley).

So tomorrow is another day.............

Take care and be well, Michelle

Am I a bad Mum .....Update

by michelleiComment Published at 05:5105:5113 comments13 comments265 Visits265 VisitsReport

Well it has been an interesting 36 hours since I took Miss Cheeky Chops' dummy away.

The method I chose probably would not have worked for everyone, but so far so good.

I picked this weekend just gone as I knew the hubby would be home to help me out (insert rolling eye smiley), his response to every little whimper or temper tantrum was ‘just give her the dummy’. Needless to say this wasn’t quite what I had in mind when I started. Oh well.

When Miss woke up on Sunday morning I greeted her as usually and waited for the dummy to drop from those soft lips. It dropped, I pounced and she didn’t notice it was gone until she had finished her breakfast bottle. Miss ‘dum?’ me ‘all gone’ Miss ‘dum?’ me ‘no’. Well she raced over to the fridge as that is where they were previously kept (I hid them the night before) and began searching for the dummies she though she knew where there.

‘Dum?’

‘Gone.’

It was on; she threw herself on the ground and started a wonderful performance. She raced down to her room and tore her room apart – clothes out of the wardrobe, toys out of the box. She then went back to the kitchen and began emptying out the one draw that doesn’t have a child lock on it. I tried so hard to hide my laughter as I knew that was the last thing she needed. We went out side for a play and all was quite.

Nap time: hubby decided to give Miss the dummy and she sobbed herself to sleep poor thing. When she woke up I asked for the dummy as I didn’t want her to leave the room with the smile stealer, face hiding dummy. Do you think that went down well? After 40 mins we were able to leave the room minus the dummy – I wont go into the graphic details I’m sure you can imagine them.

Night time: we give her the dummy again (after I had snipped the end off, how awful) and after 40 mins and me consoling her once she is finally asleep.

Fast forward to this morning.

Miss ‘dum?’ me ‘broken? Miss ‘broken?’ me ‘yes broken’. Another battle ensured but I won again – my steely resolve to rid her of that hideous dummy still firmly in place.

Nap time: I did not give her the dummy.

The day passed with some minor hiccups (temper tantrums) but it was great as she seemed to be forgetting something was missing.

I did casually mention that the fairies needed more dummies and that maybe our dummy should go to the fairies.

I ended up going to spotlight and getting some helium balloons and tying the dummy to the stings.

When hubby came home she was so excited to see the balloons she was squealing in delight. But she noticed that her dummy was on the string. We let her have the dummy (I had snipped more off the end leaving a small stub lol). Miss was so disappointed that she spat the dummy out and the balloons with dummy in tow sailed into the twilight sky, with us all waving goodbye as a united front repeating our mantra ‘the dummy is going to the fairies now. Bye bye.’

Would you believe that Miss went to sleep with out a sound………..Now where did I stash those sparkly stickers and extra balloons to leave for the fairies to say thank you.
