I want sleep now........

by michelleiComment Published at 06:2406:248 comments8 comments233 Visits233 VisitsReport

I’m having so much trouble with Miss Cheeky Chops at the moment with regards to sleep.
She has always been clingy but it is getting a bit ridiculous now.

Short story:
We went to Adelaide without hubby for 3 wks holiday in which we shared a bed. When we got home hubby had taken her cot apart and set up a toddler bed.

Now we can't get her to sleep anywhere, unless I am there. She has discovered that she can open the doors so she lets herself out of whatever room she is in. She has taken to following me around the house and sleeping outside whatever room I'm in.

So I’ve been sitting with her in her room until she falls asleep and then I quietly leave. I think she must be in a really light sleep in which she wakes up because I’m not there. As a result she is waking up to four times. I was going into her room and resettling her, but found I was going to sleep on her floor anyway - negating the whole process.

Ok.

We try putting her in her room and taking turns at holding the door shut until she eventually falls to sleep. Lots of screaming and temper tantrums follow this method. As well as a very tired and cranky Miss Cheeky Chops which I have to deal with the next day.

Day six and there is still no improvement, I'm at my wits end as being a night owl I don't get much sleep.

On day seven we decided she should co sleep with us (This only works if I lay down with her) - guess what she's gotten what she wanted. The advantage being she sleeps the whole night through now and also sleeps longer in the mornings.

This whole process is repeated for her afternoon naps as well :(
What am I to do?

I have read nearly every scrap of advice on Minti about sleep and been to see my child health nurse who assures me I’m on the right path.
And that was the short version lol.

Thanks for listening to my vent
